4.0 out of 5 stars ALMOST as good as Volume I
I am a little more of a traditional scrapper: I use mostly 4x6 photos in square and rectangular shapes. Volume II uses many more enlarged photos which I rarely (if ever) use. I CAN adapt most of the sketches to accommodate my own style, so its working for me. However, I always check Volume I first!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the 1st one
This book is not as good as the first. It has some good ideas but it has a lot of pages with one huge picture which is not cost effective for most people that I know. I do like that the layouts have measurements.

5.0 out of 5 stars An essential tool, January 22, 2006

I do not own her first book, but I love this -- BTW, its more a magazine, which is disappointing in terms of quality. (already dogeared). I would have been happy to pay double for a hardcover like the Ali Edwards book, which is much less of an reference though very fun. This is one that I can see myself hanging on to long after I throw out a bunch of my other magazines.

I am a beginning scrapbooker, at least, I've done a little bit here and there, but have really gotten into it over the last few months, and I found that the magazines and "peadom" feature the latest fads etc, currently seems to be single huge picture etc. I do a few of those, but you don't need this book for that. As opposed to the other reviewer, I would say there is not a single one photo layout in this book. (A few 3-5 picture layouts) However, it does require having a computer to resize, crop etc. but she has incredible sample layouts that show you how to fit 15 + pix even into your layouts. If you scrap family memories, this is the one for you. You can use her sketches to color block instead, and journal extensively instead of putting pix into all of the positions.

5.0 out of 5 stars GET THIS BOOK!, June 9, 2006
This review is from: Creative Sketches, Vol. 2 (Paperback)
I picked up this idea book because I like Becky Higgins' monthly sketch in Creating Keepsakes Magazine. WOW! what a great helper. She has such a great eye for design. This helped me make use of some of my neglected embellishments because I could concentrate more on picking paper and embellishments that working on the layout. More time for the real FUN part of scrapbooking. The book is laid out in chapters by # of pictures. Most of the layouts are 2 page layouts, but you can easily adapt any of the layouts to your needs. Becky even gives you tips on how to adapt the layout for yourself! This is one of those scrapper's essentials. You will NOT be disappointed with this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hugs for Higgins!, November 18, 2005
This review is from: Creative Sketches, Vol. 2 (Paperback)
Becky Higgins has done it once more! Her never-ending genuis for color and creativity makes this book a pleasure to envy. Next to "SCRAPS: ADVENTURES IN SCRAPBOOKING" it's my favorite new book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully inspiring, March 24, 2006

I have used this book over and over as I scrapbook. I've used the sketches to inspire so many of my own pages. I like so many pages that I have tabs all over the book for quick reference. A must have when you need a little scrapbooking inspiration.

Out of all the scrapbooking magazines and books in my library, this is the one that I go to every time I have a creativity block. I recommend it to everyone, no matter what your level of scrapbooking "expertise."

4.0 out of 5 stars Much better then the first, February 24, 2006

This review is from: Creative Sketches, Vol. 2 (Paperback)
I bought this volume first and really enjoyed it, it really opens your eyes to all the possiblities and you start to see your own layouts form, it shows you how to take formats from other magazine that now I flip through at the doctors office and get ideas from.
A great thing to have with you when your scrapping for that last minute stumper.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simple and easy to follow, October 1, 2007

I have always appreciated the scrapbook style of the author. It is clean and easy to duplicate. Now that I have evolved as a scrapbooker in my style, her style is seeming a bit dated and stiff to me. I still have a very simple style, but would like to see something fresher from her. This special edition magazine, is still a great resource, however. I would no longer pay full price for it though. Not to mention, she now has a new hardcover edition out this year (2007) which might be a better option. And who knows maybe her style has been updated!
