5.0 out of 5 stars Sparks creativity in the brochure-making process, July 10, 2008

This review is from: Creative Solutions: Brochures: Making a Strong Impression: 85 Strategies for Message-Driven Design (Hardcover)
This is not a step-by-step guide to creating brochures. For that, you need something like Bly's The Perfect Sales Piece or Gedney's Complete Guide to Creating Successful Brochures. This book is full of inspiringly creative approaches that illustrate, without a lot of words, ideas you can use or adapt to make your own unique, appealing brochure. Best used in combination with a more practical guide.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pix of some nice work, but thin on "strategy" or production details, May 2, 2008

Scant info is offered about each of the 85 brochures. Sometimes there is info about size or paper or production details; sometimes not.

Typical comments: "Squares -- a pervasive design element -- are used to compartmentalize." "Circles are a prominent motif throughout the piece, often used to focus the eye." "Color plays a critical role and was therefore a priority."

Nice pictures of nice work, but much of the work is beginning to look a little dated. But there is a wide variety of work in here, and at least some attempt to give a context to the material.
