The claws are supposed to let you fix it to a laptop. Unfortunately, the grip is not steady. The rubber studs came off and it got worse from there on. It was one hand on the camera and one hand of the keyboard from the on.

Even though it is cheap, the product seems to be cheaper. I couldn't get majority of the features it came with to even work. The camera works when it decides its ready. I wasn't sure if I should buy this camera and I looked at all the reviews I could find to try and help me. And I'd have to say its definitely not worth the buy, I would prefer to have spent more money and gotten a different hopefully better product. If your really strapped for cash I'd say sure ok buy it. But if your not go ahead and spend the extra cash for something that will last.

Can be good depending on your usage,
This review is from: Creative Webcam Instant w/Free Headset (Personal Computers)
If you'd like a webcam to use very casually (once every few months) like most people, the price should be your biggest criteria, and this webcam can be a decent deal for you. If you want to use a webcam with anything more than casual usage, avoid the cam completely. The sensor is very low resolution (352x288), the interface is old (USB 1.1), and the OS compatibility is outdated (Windows XP with no plans to support Vista).
The webcam works on Vista with Microsoft's default drivers, but the drivers and application software that come with the cam won't install at all. The games that come with the cam *do* work with Vista (and are a blast for my eight-year-old). I got this for free after rebate, thinking that even if it's a cheap cam, it's likely to be better than my 10-year-old, cheap cam. Other than the games that it came with, it wasn't. The picture quality on my old, cheap cam is the same as that of my new, cheap cam.

I really wish I could choose 0 stars! The pictures and the view is terrible. The free headset is no good too, you get what you pay for!! I cannot believe Amazon would even sell something like this!

Don't use it for Notebooks,

Enough said about bad picture quality. I bought this camera to be used on top of the notebook. When I was looking at the pictures on the internet, I didn't pay attention to the fact that screen of the notebook is under right angle to the table. Well, it so happened that this is the only way you may make this camera look forward, on you. If you are like me and have your notebook's screen slighly pushed back - the camera will look up into the sky. This third leg, officially called "hinged lever" can't hold it; looks like it misses a spring that would hold it in the normal position. Don't buy it if you plan to install it on the notebook - it won't work.

I purchased two of these webcams because my best friend moved to New Zealand and I was still living in Illinois. It has come in very handy and was cheap. For the price it is actually a very good webcam. If you want perfect clairity and flawless pictures I wouldn't suggest this camera, but for general use like in the home just talking to a friend it is very nice.

Works on XP, OK Picture Quality, NOT for Vista,

There are much better available, avoid this "Creative Webcam" unless you are getting it cheap and are only installing it on an XP PC. It does not work on Vista.
It did install fairly quickly on my XP PCs (we have 3 of these webcams) and performs well enough for video chatting. The picture quality is just OK, nothing special. The included software is also OK and does what you expect it to do. Not recommended. |
