The Nano lets you take music shuffling to the next level. Like other players, the unit will randomly shuffle through all your songs, but with the built-in LCD you can control your music in more ways than just a simple shuffle. Find the songs you want to hear, listen to your new album, repeat your favorite songs, and more. Battery life is outstanding, allowing you to listen to music for up to 18 hours on a single AAA battery. The 512 MB model's flash memory can store up to 250 songs (WMA-encoding, 64 kbps). And transferring those songs to and from the device is speedy, thanks to the unit's USB 2.0 connection. And last but not least, you can use the built-in microphone to capture ideas and save quick reminders when you're out shopping. Plus, record long lectures when you're in important meetings or presentations.
What's in the Box
Zen Nano player, Creative earphones, USB 2.0 cable, AAA alkaline battery, quick start booklet and installation CD.

Hopefully Helpful... This info sure helped ME!,

Let me save you some time... if your player starts shutting down, tech support will tell you it's a DRM thing and that you have to use a specific program to transfer files, that you have to upgrade the firmware and drivers off of their site. It all works pretty well, although a clumsy process... but if you want your unit to continue to function properly, you need an older driver. Try to find this version: ZenNanoPlus_PCFW_LF_1_10_03 (it's the version before the current one, so it's bound to be floating around out there somewhere... just keep looking or demand it from Creative) - I just reformatted and flashed my firmware using this version and it now works just fine. GOOD LUCK!!! [...]
I should also mention that this would be the PERFECT player if: 1) the little tooth on the battery compartment sliding door didn't break off so EASILY. 2) The firmware wasn't sush a mess (they blame record labels and DRM restrictions...) 3) and the recording quality was something better than, like about 32 kHz wav. 192 mp3 would be better. Otherwise I LOVE the unit and the ease of operation.

My first MP3 player.,
This review is from: Creative Zen Nano 512 MB MP3 Player (White) (Electronics)
Well this is my first MP3 player. I was warned about buying an IPod (horribly expensive and horribly corporate) so I opted for something moderately-priced but yet adequate storage. I'm going to see if there is a case for it because honestly I do not like the mp3 player banging around when I am jogging. (It comes with an attachment to a necklace.)
Easy enough to connect to your computer, just a USB cable. Have to install the software, it comes with a lot of extra stuff so I just say to install the bare minimum. Downloading songs to and fro is a cinch and takes a few seconds. Great for long car trips or walks. I highly recommend this to a first-time buyer or a casual mp3 user.

Zen Nano: great little player, but choose model carefully!,

I have a Zen Nano Plus 1GB and I love it...after initially feeling just lukewarm about it. The controls are quite good, simple and easy to use without looking - something you don't notice immediately, but after using it for a few months I see why some players are better than others (especially these small ones). Mine came with a rubber case/arm strap, the FM tuner, and all the extras - have seen Creative is selling a wide array of "versions" of the Zen Nano so just choose carefully and you will LOVE IT. The equalizer and random play features really make this a standout small player.
When paired with my Shure E2C headphones it ROCKS!!! Not earsplitting volume, but plenty for the average listener. Original headphones are indeed CRAP.
