I record all my class lectures because I don't have the time to study traditionally. I have the 1 gig version, but I absolutely adore this! I tried to buy a second one because it's so small and compact I occasionally misplace it. It's easy to backup onto my computer, and involved no additional software for my PC or Mac. The menu takes a little getting used to, but it works. It came with a rubber case and I have dropped it zillions of times with no damage whatsoever. I'd love for Creative to keep making these but with a bit more memory. The Muvo feels a bit more fragile, came without the case, and is bigger. I also swear it doesn't pick up the lectures as well from afar as this one does.

Excellent device. I have the 512mg and the 1gig. The controls are easy to access and learning to use them is a breeze. Plug into your Personal Confusor [er I mean Computer] then drag and drop audio files and you are done. No software to install - true ease of use. With our dependence on digital media at an all time high I find the 512mg very limited. Even the 1gig is easy to fill up and listen to all it holds in a short period of time. There are other Mp3 players on the market with 2, 4, 8, 16gig etc. to choose from. The 2gig players begin at about 40 bucks or so. So it is always a good idea to go with the largest capacity you can afford. The 512mg these days is just not up to the task in my opinion. These Creatives although small are certainly well built.

I know these things are kind of Old School these days, but I wanted to add my two cents worth none the less on the off chance someone found this review helpful.
Four years ago I spent several days debating which MP3 player was worth spending money on. At the time, I was only going to be using it whenever I worked out, which was about once every other day, but back then, MP3 players were still kind of "new", which was reflected in the price, so I didn't want to spend a ton of money only to have the thing die on me a few months later. After much debate, I settled for a 1 GB Creative Zen Nano MP3 player. Four years later, I am sitting here writing this and listening to that exact same MP3 player, and it still works just as well as it did when I first got it. It is small, it uses one regular AAA battery, and each battery last a pretty long time - at least 12 hours of continuious play per battery, and usually more. I myself listen to it during my 6-8 hour work days (3-5 days a week) and I only have to replace the battery about once every two weeks. The sound quality is great, too. The hardest part about using it was trying to figure out how to flip between "playlists" (when you put music on it, just put the songs you want as a playlist into a seperate folder for each playlist) and manuver between the File options that let me lock the buttons, delete a song I didn't want anymore, make a recording, etc, and it didn't take me more than 10 minutes of fooling around with it to figure out the features. So, if you are in the market for a MP3 player, I highly recommend the Creative Zen Nano. Mine was worth every penny I spent on it back in 2006 (which was quite a bit), so these days you get even more for your money.

We've been looking for an Ipod for our son that took a regular battery. Very hard to find BTW! The more I read, I learned that the rechargable batteries didn't last long. Then once they come out with new Ipod's, the replacement batteries are hard to find. Eventually, you would end up throwing it away. I wanted one that wold lasted a long time. Then,I found the Zen Nano! Love it, love it! So many cool features and excellent sound quality! I want to buy one for all 3 kids. Just wish I could find one in other colors besides white.
Happy customer :) |
