Battery problems (as usual for Creative),
By Reviewer from Palo Alto (Palo Alto, California United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: CreativeLabs Digital Wireless Headphones ( 70BX000007148 ) (Electronics)
The battery, which is claimed by Creative to last "up to" 7 hours, lasts about 2 hours. So, if you need this gadget for hiking or such, be sure to carry extra batteries. I have had similar experience with other Creative devices. Apparently, their marketing department is completely detached from their
engineering teams. Also, when the transmitter and the headphones are less that 1 foot apart, there are noise and interruptions. Other than that, the headphones are OK, I guess. Given my experience, I would probably not have bought them, but I am too lazy to return.

Decent sound quality but uncomfortable and horrible tech support,

I had difficulty getting them to work out of the box; living in a dorm, I figure it was probably interference from other devices. Finally got them to work over a break, but not after a miserable experience with Creative's customer support. First of all, there is no troubleshooting documentation that comes with the headphones, and there is no support information on their website. The first response I received asked if I had Service Pack 2 and if the adapter was recognized by my system, both of which are completely irrelevant to the product; this e-mail did contain a link to a bluetooth troubleshooting document hidden somewhere on their website though, from which I was able to figure out my problems. I received two further e-mails after responding to the first e-mail and lodging a complaint about the quality of the tech support. The response to my response was to send in the headphones for an RMA, despite the fact that there was no sign that the standard troubleshooting techniques did not work. The response to my complaint was, in short, "I understand you are having problems with your HQ1300 and that the adapter does not seem to fit," along with further instructions; this response being to a complaint about the CB2350, with no indication that the fit of the adapter (a standard 1/8th inch stereo jack) was any problem at all.
Also, they are uncomfortable if worn for any extended period of time, and the volume knob sticks in the up position (out of the box,) requiring me to be very careful in using it to turn up the volume if I want to keep my eardrums intact. Runs through batteries, but not really a problem with rechargables. Definately would opt for a different set if I had to do it again, mostly due to comfort even if I had not had the difficulties with Creative's support.

after shopping around for wirless headphones for my mp3 player i went with the creative digital wireless headphones, i have a creative labs zen touch mp3 player. the headphones themselves are bulky and fit really funny, they do not stay on your head unless you are sitting very still. the audio sounds great, great bass, but if you are 10 feet or more away from your source yo get a static noise that sounds like a loose cable. for the prce these are ok for indoor use. i returned mine the nxt day i got them, very unhappy with them.

I Really Wanted These To Be Good!!,

I have to say that shopping for the "perfect" set of headphones has definetly been a test of my patience and objectivity. I bought these as a companion to my Creative Zen Vision M, which I love by the way. The headphones do work as advertised, they sound pretty good, the fit is average and not having to be tangled in wires is "sweet". The whole reason I went on a search for these phones in the first place. After about a month I finally gave in and returned them to continue looking for something better.
The battery life is really poor and as several reviewers pointed out, they are almost impossible to get them to feel comfortable on your haed unless you hold your head perfectly still and just listen. They seem a little top heavy and they just didn't feel secure, like any moment they would just fall off and on several occassions they did just that. I had no problems with the connectivity or any real complaints about the sound quality, I just didn't feel comfortable wearing them so my final thought was, " what's the point if they don't feel right". I have a pair of Sennheiser px100's that get great reviews and I am not crazy about them either mainly because I always get tangled up in the wires so I guess finding the right headphones is a crap shoot and a process of elimination. If you are the type that can put the headphones on your head and not move much, you may enjoy these, the sound quality is good to my casual ears but they really don't give you the feeling they will stay on your head if you move around much, no matter how I adjusted them, it just wasn't worth the stress. I apologize for the disjointed review but I hope this helps someone thinking of buying these; if you had a way to audition them for a few days that would be my best advice, Creative is a good company and I love their mp3 players, the headphones do rate well as far as build quality goes.

Not the best headphones that I've ever owned...,

First the good news, the Bluetooth rocks - crystal clear sound (within about 10ft, maybe 15-20ft max without *any* obstructions which is completely normal for the BT1.1 spec). My other wireless headphone experience is with the 900MHz variety, and they were staticky and lame compared to these.
Now the bad news: Ergonomics - definitely not the most comfortable headphones. I have to wear them rotated towards the back of my head (the ear muffs dont flex into a comfortable position for me, but maybe they would fit if I had a much bigger head). You definitely cant workout with these - too bulky, they dont fit right, and they arent comfortable if you cinch them to your head with a bandana or headband. Battery life - I burn through the transmitter battery about an hour faster (2-3hrs) than the headphones (3-4hrs). If you purchase, get some AAA rechargable batteries too. One final recommendation, pick up a 20ft 1/8" stereo M/F extension cord online or at Radio Shack so you can extend the range.

I'll get right down to it:
-- Battery life is horrendous. Buy a good charger (La Crosse BC-900), and 8 Duracell 1000 mAH batteries to fuel thing thing or you'll go broke, fast; -- I've found the headphones very comfortable with good sound but will not stay on if you jog; -- Bluetooth pairing is sometimes a pain but the range is typical for bluetooth devices; Overall, if you get the rechargeable setup above they're the best I've found. All 900 MHz headphones I've tried are useless unless you want to listen to your neighbor's phone conversations. Go with these.

Creative Labs Digital Wireless headphones CB2530,

I got a set as a gift. Sound quality is OK, but as an occassional user, I find that the bluetooth connectivity is hit/miss. I have to also agree with other poster comments about the low battery life; I typically seem to have to replace the transmitter battery each time that I want to use the headphones.
Lately I have also had a problem with the left channel in the headphones seems to have gone out, so I will likely need to get a warranty replacement.

Bluetooth for audio can't compare to wired phones..,

Ideally -- for music you want a pair of wired headphones. They just sound better. But if you want the convenience of wireless -- these bluetooth headphones aren't bad.
I dispute the battery life claims on here -- mine last about 7 or 8 hours. I make frequent flights from the midwest to California and I listen to these there and back without having to change batteries. I haven't had any issues with connectivity either. I can listen to music from my computer in the next room without the connection dropping. I get a second or two of static walking downtown but that's not unreasonable to me. I also think these are fairly comfortable. They're also sturdy -- built well. The dongle is a tad irritating, though -- I do wish the cable were shorter.

I got this for my husband so that either he could listen to his C&W without bothering me or I could watch TV without bothering him. As long as you are in the same room with the bluetooth sender, it's OK. As soon as you try to walk to another room, upstairs, or, Heaven forfend, out to the patio, you can forget it unless you are willing to find exactly the right spot and hold your head at just this angle and are near a doorway (or window if outside). I've not a clue why this is so. I know that my PDA will link to my PC via bluetooth pretty much anywhere in the house. To me that means that the problem is not bluetooth and my walls but the headsets.

Excellent price/performance wireless headphone,
By Wenger (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews

I have been looking for a wireless headphone on the web for a long time. The major concern that I have is how susceptable the headphone is to noises from all other wireless devices at home: wireless router (802.11b/g) and 2 wireless phones, which all operates at the 2.4Ghz band as the headphone.
I must say that I am amazed by the quality. I think the digital processing and the frequency hopping which comes with the Bluetooth standard helps a lot in terms of avoiding interference from other wireless devices. When I type up this comment, I am sitting right in front of my computer, which is using a 802.11g wireless network interface to download files at full speed and I get minor flickers only when I move my head really close to the computer (eg. < 1 foot). Normally, when I am not close to the other wireless devices, I hardly get a glitch. The only down side is that I need to buy my own battery charger and AAA rechargeable batteries for frequent use - but I just cannot ask for too much given the price. |
