About the Author

David E. Carter invented the "logo book" category in 1972 when he published Volume 1 of The Book of American Trade Marks. Today, he has produced nearly 80 books on the corporate identity and graphic design, and is creating new titles at the rate of 6-8 per year. He has created corporate identities for more than 300 businesses, and for a 10 year period beginning in 1989, he worked extensively with clients in southeast Asia, primarily Indonesia and Thailand.

This book is great for those excrutiating moments of designer's block. Full of images pulled from print ads to brochures to web sites, this is a great book to browse through, not read. If you want a tutorial, step-by-step book on how to create good designs, this isn't it.

I would like to see more web site designs and less video in future additions. The TV commercials they feature don't really have the same impact as when you watch them on TV. I would have liked an accompanying CD-ROM or DVD so that I could see the commercials with motion, rather than still shots.

Overall, though, a nice collection of modern designs from all fields.
