My son, age 6, received these for Christmas. I was initially very impressed by the assortment of accessories that came with the product. We spent 2 great afternoons coloring, baking (shrinking), and putting them together. And, we did it together! Great times! The playscape that came with it is cute and durable and I was able to put it together in about 5 minutes. Back to the accessories- there are cute striped pipe cleaners, brads for attaching the arms, hands, feet, etc., foam tape for adding dimension, and circle rings for attaching the monsters to the playscape... Also, there is a generous amount of monsters to shrink, plus other little accessories such as beakers, test tubes, bones, jars of eyeballs, etc. The box gives you ideas of how to color the monsters if you aren't terribly creative. The first time we shrunk (baked them) I didn't leave them in long enough and all but one came out curled up. I emailed the company and promptly received a pleasant response the following day telling me to bake them again and they would flatten. They did just that. The ones I shrunk the 2nd day I baked longer and they flattened out as promised. These are great! I will purchase again as gifts!

My son LOVES this Shrinky Dinks Monster Lab!! He waited patiently for it to come in the mail and he couldn't wait to check it all out. He's delayed in his fine motor skills so the fact that he loves all the cool monsters and the lab guy keeps him wanting to color. A win-win for Mom and Son both! The background is really quite cool, but it won't last the wear and tear of a 5 year old playing with it. Overall - this set is a huge hit. And everybody knows that a happy kid = a happy Mom.

I really had a hard time with Christmas this year. My kids wanted all the fun expensive stuff and most of it wasn't what I'd call a wow-ser for them. This year I went nostalgic on a few gifts; Shrinky Dinks being one of them. I purchased them for my 6 year old son thinking the Monster Lab would intrigue him. He's not much of a color-er so I figured I'd do most of the coloring. Today on the day after Christmas, with the house all a wreck with their toys and plays sets lying around we broke out the box and started to color away. I told them we wouldn't shrink them until all were colored. My 6 year old son and 10 year old daughter happily sat at the kitchen table coloring the "cool" monsters. They quickly got into it. Later when every monster was complete they sat in front of our stove, flashlight in hand (I must replace that bulb soon) watching their masterpieces shrink up. Hearing the kids exclamations as their Shrinky Dinks bended and contorted in the throes of their shrinking brought me back to when I was a kid. Did they have fun? Absolutely! Did all dinks shrink? Yes but not perfectly. Luckily it will work with the Monster Lab theme. We had a great afternoon coloring and creating and I will most definitely purchase another Shrink Dink again!

I purchased this for my 5 year old grandson. He absolutely loved this. It kept him busy, busy busy!! This was well worth the money and on his list for more for Christmas.

My 7 year old received this as a birthday gift. He colored and made each monster with the help of his brother (age 9) and mommy. We had a great time making each monster. I did not have any problems when shrinking. You have to leave them in the oven long enough for them to flatten themselves. My boys have great imaginations, and continue to play with the kit days after we finished making it. Love this toy!!

Loved that the shrinky dinks were alredy cut out. The monster lab really looks cool when finished. I will be buying it again for my nephews for Christmas. Might be a little difficult for young kids. Ten is probably a good age.

This was a very amusing and worthwhile project for 4 of my nieces and nephews one afternoon during their spring break, ages 3, 5, 8 and 8. Only one problem, about 15% of the items being baked started to curl and we could not correct it as per the instructions, so they ended up stuck to themselves and useless. Hoever, there were enough pieces included whereby these stuck pieces were not missed very much.

My son loved this set. He is 5 years old and hates to color or write. All he asks for is more shrinky dinks now. The colors are great. They love watching them shrink. I wish they made more cool sets.
My 8 year old daughter loves her fairy set as well. So much fun for when a friend comes over or just a mom and daughter thing.
