cute animal patterns in simple knitting skills and lots of colors.,
By 1st time Mommy (ca, usa) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Creature Comforts: Cozy Knits for Wee Ones (Hardcover)
If you are looking for cute animal patterns like rabbit, cow, griffle, duckie, etc and trains and boat kind of stuff in simple design. This is the book you want. Just Simple pullover or cardigan set with blankets, hats etc. Frankily, the designs of the sweaters are really nothing special. But it's all about the colors together with those cute motifs. And she gives a little life and texture to the animals motifs. Like by adding an dangling ear or wiggling tail. Good for beginners. Mostly just knit stitch. Very colorful, cute and cheerful for baby. Good range on sizes. She group the book into 3 main chapters by color - pastel, neutral and the brights. The thing I really love about this book is the photos. Very nice, clear, colorful and full or almost full page photos of the knitted products. Perhaps that's what making these very simple and ordinary designs so attractive.

I am an experienced knitter, and this book is one of the best in my collection. The patterns are adorable with added "embellishments" that give the finished product a very special look. The patterns are easy and straight forward. A color picture of each pattern is included. Highly recommended for knitters of all experience levels.

Great Book for your own knitting library,
By Ellen b (Long Island United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Creature Comforts: Cozy Knits for Wee Ones (Hardcover)
I originally got this book out of the library, but ended up buying it. As was said earlier, all the sweaters are versions of just 2 easy sweaters in the book - one a cardigan and one a pullover. However, the embellishments are what makes it really wonderful. I use the graphs to do a duplicate stitch for the animals or cars after the basic sweater is finished. Also, the trains and cars with wheels made out of buttons are very clever, and makes these easy sweaters seem like you are the most advanced knitter! Make one of these for a friend's baby and everyone will talk about what a genius you are.

Many motifs but only 2 top patterns,
By
This review is from: Creature Comforts: Cozy Knits for Wee Ones (Hardcover)
I was expecting each knit to be a different pattern and was surprised to see only 2 types of patterns for tops. At the beginning of the book, there is 1 pattern for a cardigan, a pull-over and a hat/mittens (6,12 and 18mth sizes). You are basically directed to knit the particular pattern and add the mofifs as you go. So, for example, if you don't like the pullover pattern a significant proportion of the book is not useable, or you need to adapt the motifs to a pattern from another book. Adapting the motifs to a design you do like (or know that fits) is probably not a difficult task and the motifs and colours are sweet.
There is a nice range of mofif styles, with the cover picture a good indication of the types of designs in the book.

Patterns you MUST knit,
By
This review is from: Creature Comforts: Cozy Knits for Wee Ones (Hardcover)
This book contains so many patterns that you will want to knit you will have a diffiicult time selecting the one to do first. Each is unique with some enhancement on each. I want to knit them all even though I have no one in mind (at the present) to give them to.

This book is wonderful. It offers very basic patterns for sweaters, hats, booties, then offers the variations in design and color patterns. I now have knitted many of the patterns in this book (even adding my own variations) and the patterns are amazingly accurate, well written, and explained simply and understandably. Anyone who is looking for a book that gives simple pattern instructions, suitable for an ambitious beginner, with memorable designs that make you look like an expert, should pick this one.

Adorable Baby Knits,

The designs are clever, cute and colorful. The directions are excellent. I wish there had been substitute yarns suggested. I don't like using wool for baby wear, and had trouble finding enough colors in the cotton yarn. I substituted a slightly thinner yarn, used larger needles and made one of the patterns. It turned out very well.I plan to knit another soon. I would buy the book again.

Wrap a little someone in love,
By
This review is from: Creature Comforts: Cozy Knits for Wee Ones (Hardcover)
The littlest member of my extended family is turning ONE this month and everyone's turning out for the party. Realizing that he needs his auntie to knit something for him, I had a deep rummage in the yarn supply for some washable worsted wool in several good colors. My usual pattern choices are top-down raglans, cardigans knit in the round and steeked, fair isle -- but sometimes a good basic pullover is just what you want for a fast, adorable knit. Designer Amy Bahrt's Creature Comforts: Cozy Knits for Wee Ones does have some limiting factors and I'll mention those first. * All of the sweaters are designed around the same basic square pattern (with pullover and cardigan variation). There is also a hat, mittens, pillow and afghan. * The size range is limited to 6, 12 and 18 months (23-24-25 inches at the chest). * All are knitted at the same gauge with the same three yarns: Tahki Yarns Cotton Classic II and New Tweed; and Brown Sheep Lambs Pride Worsted. That said, the color combinations and motifs are delightful and oh-so-creative: giraffes with legs swinging free, woolly sheep, Holstein cows standing in fringes of bright grass, trains and trucks with button wheels. These designs could be readily adapted to other patterns and projects. The directions and charts are clear and accurate. The book lays flat so you can work straight from the page. My only quibbles are that the font overall could be bigger (though it IS crisp and readable), and printing the introduction in white type on a pink background was an unfortunate choice. While this book doesn't do everything, it DOES accomplish everything it sets out to do. It's gorgeously presented, contains 65 patterns adorable just as they are, and provides inspiration for your own knitting labor of love. That's five stars in my book. I chose the pullover and hat in natural colors with woolly sheep and a red picket fence, and it's coming out perfect. Well done, Amy Bahrt! Linda in Maine

i am advising anyone to not buy from this company. they ship the books out late. i ordered my book and it was not shipped out until 4 days later. i recieved it 2 weeks later and it had water damage and was ripped. when i tried to call them there was no answer. and when i emailed them to complain it sent me an automated message that did no help whatsoever. so if you don't want bad service and a big hassle don't buy from great book deals.
