1.0 out of 5 stars This book is not factual !
The author has not worked in banking and has no comprehension of the basic money supply. I was a banker for over 28 years and have no love for the Federal Reserve. However, the book gives so much bad information, readers will lose sight of the real danger of the Fed. That danger is the ability to increase interest rates to a point our economy could collapse. The author...

This review is from: The Creature from Jekyll Island: A Second Look at the Federal Reserve (Paperback)
"The Creature from Jekyll Island" shows you the greatest fraud in history: the Federal Reserve System. You will read what it has let its creators do to our country. And you will learn how we, the people, can get rid of it.

"Creature" says what many Washington and Wall Street insiders know, but would never say: that through the Federal Reserve System, powerful men use inflation to rob us blind.

G. Edward Griffin does not stop there. He visits remote continents and distant times to show how rulers have used their control of money to control their peoples. And, he relates how, at considerable risk and cost, Andrew Jackson returned to our people a great deal of economic freedom by refusing to renew the charter of the Second Bank of the United States.

This book's information shines a light on current events that is stark, strong, and new. It will affect not merely how you see financial or business news, but all sorts of news relating to domestic and foreign developments. You will understand much more about the "New World Order," the Kyoto "Global Warming" treaty, the latest adjustment of Federal Reserve interest rates, and why your children's history textbooks leave out so much.

You may find yourself discussing this book with your friends and neighbors. You may change your political registration. You may even try to elect candidates whose ideas reflect knowledge of the history Mr. Griffin describes.

Do yourself a favor: please read this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Q: What in the world is "fractional reserve fiat money"?, October 17, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: The Creature from Jekyll Island: A Second Look at the Federal Reserve (Paperback)
A: Your bank account. I learned more about money from this book than I have in business school. Our present monetary system has no backing but the faith of those holding the currency. Did you know that every dollar you "own" was "borrowed" from the Federal Reserve, and if the US ever repays this debt that all US money will vanish? The book is fascinating and eye opening. It paints a clear picture that via the Federal Reserve, the US has the ability to raise unlimited funds without taxation. Further, this is the third US "central bank", the other two failed miserably while creating a convenient means for funding wars. The book has several chapters of pure speculation that offer some insight but tend to distract from the otherwise fascinating facts. Because of these chapters (which can be easily skipped) I give the book an 8. This book has done more to influence my opinion of the US monetary system than anything else I have read. This should be required reading for all Americans.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is timeless..., June 19, 1998

Imagine, a conspiracy of the 'super rich', who create money "out of thin air", and then charge you interest on that money, while at the same time creating a law that holds the taxpayer responsibile for the defaults!! Sound good so far? But wait, there is more. They also create Foundations to protect their wealth from the Income Tax, while you pay their portion of the tax and they spend theirs without penalty.

But wait, there is still more. When the money supply dwindles because the Gov't eats too much of it, why they just print more and call it inflation, and you pay for it, not because the price went up but the value of the currency went down.

The Federal Reserve is not Federal, nor is it a Reserve. Its private !!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Do not be intimidated; not a hard read at all!, March 18, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Creature from Jekyll Island: A Second Look at the Federal Reserve (Paperback)
The brilliance of this book is that it can easily be read in sections, with a summary at both the beginning and end of each chapter. Also, every single fact or reference is footnoted so you know all of his information is verifiable. I had no clue how 'money' works before reading this, but was always curious. Now I know in full, and I owe a great deal of gratitude to Mr. Griffith.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible, November 24, 1998

I find myself gasping for air as I read this book. My poor wife has to deal with me chasing her around the house referring to passages. It is all so simple to see as Mr. Griffin lays out the truth that people in high places do not want us to see. I can see the powers never allowing this book in schools. However, my son is eight years old and by the time he is 16 he will understand what the world is truly about. I owe it to him. Thanks to the author!

Plan to have your eyes opened with a crowbar!! As Thomas Wolfe said "You can't go home again."This is an astounding and well researched account of what we call "money". If the author is correct we should be printing our money on hot air balloons; in fact we already are!If you are fat, dumb and happy with the world skip this book!OTHERWISE we suggest you also read the little book "War Is A Racket" by ret.Major General Smedley D. Butler, United States Marine Corps.(a compelling indictment of the Military Industrial Complex and Banking)If you have ANY sanity left after the "Creature", you won't, after you read "War is a Racket."

5.0 out of 5 stars Be forewarned; your idea of money will be shattered!!, December 1, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Creature from Jekyll Island: A Second Look at the Federal Reserve (Paperback)
Throw out your preconceived notions, rules, and ideals about your money and it's origins. The whos, whys, whens, wheres and hows about your money is here to read. After reading this book, you will have a fundamental understanding of how money works and works against us. Be warned however. This book is very maddening in that it exposes the real Federal Reserve System and how it is destroying this country and what they've been doing to the "common" man. Ever wonder why you pay income tax?? Read it here. Ever wonder why we have depressions and recessions? It's right here. Why doesn't our money go as far as it used too? It's in this book. Even the history of fractional reserve banking can be found in this tome. Don't be turned away by the subject. Mr. Griffin writes so that ANYONE can understand what he is trying to convey, and that is, the downfall of our country due to the monetary system and how it will effect our future. You will not be disappointed!!!!

From beginning to end, this book is a pleasure to read. The author enlightens the reader far more than will be expected. 5.0 out of 5 stars POWERFUL INSIGHT INTO THE DECEPTIVE PRACTICES OF THE FED!, December 15, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Creature from Jekyll Island: A Second Look at the Federal Reserve (Paperback)
This book is a powerful read. It is time that the American People regain their Constitutional Rights through education. I urge everyone to read this book and arm themselves with enough knowledge to make a difference in our country before "our children wake up in the streets hungry and homeless" as Jefferson said.

The economy as well as the greed and fear factors come into light as this book opens the doorway to the truth.

Read it and share it...lest someday we regret not being educated on the greatest deception in history.

This review is from: The Creature from Jekyll Island: A Second Look at the Federal Reserve (Paperback)
This book is a must-read for anyone who is concerned about inflation, the national debt and how the money supply is created and manipulated by the Federal Reserve. The book gives the basic reasons why the Federal Reserve Act must be recined. One of the most important, well researched, books ever written on the subject of money.
