5.0 out of 5 stars The Most Honest Book You'll Find
I have bought other so-called "credit repair" books, and they were baloney. This book is short, concise and to the point. There is nothing else you need. If any book promises you anything else, they are pulling your leg.

I saw this author speak at a seminar, and he rocks. He is a well-known consumer advocate, and tells it exactly like it is.

3.0 out of 5 stars Slightly misleading title..., March 28, 2005
This review is from: Credit Repair: What the Credit Industry Doesn't Want You to Know (Paperback)
This book is an excellent resource if you need to learn how credit reporting and collection agencies work. However, most people trying to repair their credit need you to get to the actual meat and potatoes of the subject.

Although this book is titled "Credit Repair", it does not offer much in the way of advice on how to go about repairing. The book touches on how to dispute debts you have paid, and how to remove items that should be gone due to bankruptcy. I think most people will agree these are not the issues they are facing.

I am currently going through the tedious process of cleaning up my credit report. I made poor decisions as a "new adult" and I am now financially able to begin cleaning up the mess I've made of my credit report. This book did not offer solutions that would help me.

I highly recommend Best Credit, by Dana Neal, if you'd like thorough, amazingly detailed information on what, when, where, why, and how to repair your credit. I have personally used this book with amazingly success.

I am not discrediting this book, please don't misunderstand. There is valid and useful information in it for the complete credit novice. I'm simply saying it's very broad-spectrum. Unless you're looking for information on the general way things work, this is not the book for you.

I highly recommend this book, obviously. He discusses a variety of different topics, and how to handle bankruptcy issues, charge offs, divorce matters, and yes collection accounts.

I did also read his book Collection Agency Harassment. It is entirely different. Obviously some stuff overlaps, but certainly not all of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS IS WHAT WORKED FOR ME..., December 24, 2003
This review is from: Credit Repair: What the Credit Industry Doesn't Want You to Know (Paperback)
I guess the author chose a different publisher for cost reasons because I have read both his books and they are exactly the same just that this one is half the price!
The advice he gives is very effective. No need to feel nervous when speaking with those tough-talking COWARDS hiding behind the phone lines as they say things which you know they would never say to your face. The fact of the matter is that there is a law on the books which stops them from phoning you but you have to say the magic words... "I want you to stop calling me, cease all phone communications with me" It's that simple. Don't have conversations with these people, as they work with scripts. They have answers to every possible excuse you can come up with. So just tell them to stop calling even before they start then hang-up in their face. You might get one that calls back, to whom you simply say, "I told you to stop harassing me but your disobeying me so from now on these calls will be taped." Belittle them and mean it! Don't lose your sense of humor. Continue with- "You want to help me pay my bills? Ok, keep calling so that I can sue you for the exact same amount!" You have nothing to lose; your credit report can't get any worst. You already had a bad mark the moment you fell behind by 30 days.
Remember, they chose to give you credit voluntarily; you didn't twist their arms for it. They are the ones sending millions of "pre-approved" applications to people across the country, sucking the lifeblood out of people who just happened to fall onto hard times.
Back during Age of Sail whenever a ship would enter into a new port, there was always a handful of creditors waiting to extend credit to the young and gullible poor sons of mothers. Many would end-up penniless after months of hard work in rough seas.

I've read Credit Repair twice. This book has provided
me with a wealth of knowledge in connection with helping
consumers to correct their credit reports and repair their
credit. Credit Repair is written in plain language,
not legal jargon. If you are looking to repair your credit,
this is the only book you will need.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Helpful., March 5, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Credit Repair: What the Credit Industry Doesn't Want You to Know (Paperback)
I read this book and I think it is much better than the other books I have seen on repairing your credit. The forms and letters in the book are extremely helpful. I think the author spells out exactly how go about rehabilitating your credit. I think many people think there is an easy quick fix. Writing a few letters may put some people off, but not me. You have to follow the simple procedures in this book, and you'll be back to getting your credit report in better shape. I highly recommend this book to ANYONE with a concern about their credit.

This book provides good insight into credit, how we get our credited reported and how to make changes to our credit report.

It gives you simple instructions to follow and even samples letters to use.

Good information to have whether or not you have credit problems. In this day and age with all the identity theft everyone should know the info in this book to repair any misinformation on their reports.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is it!, April 10, 2005
This review is from: Credit Repair: What the Credit Industry Doesn't Want You to Know (Paperback)
I would first like to state that I read both of Rich DiMaggio's books: Credit Repair and the other, Collection Agency Harassment. I have also seen him speak. He is an outstanding speaker and a really intelligent man. When I get done listening to him, I finally feel like I have power over "the system". Truthfully--he would probably speak for your group, too, because he has a true passion about these subjects. He gives advice based on 15 years in the courtroom against the credit industry.

These are 2 distinct books, and should not be lumped into one category. There is overlap because debt collectors use our credit reports against us, but the similarities stop there. Mr. DiMaggio will teach you how to draft exacting letters of disputes, and where to send them. He explains the intricacies of the bankruptcy law, charge-offs, divorce, false identities, FICO scoring an more. I don't have a clue what Chrissy is saying about misleading titles. This book is the best I have seen.

(By the way, if you go to the web site, the author actually responds to emails!)

5.0 out of 5 stars I became debt free, built my credit up and bought my first home!, August 12, 2005
This review is from: Credit Repair: What the Credit Industry Doesn't Want You to Know (Paperback)
Rich DiMaggio's books helped me to understand how to get back on my feet, discipline myself for the future, and get my family to a better place in life.

Divorce and death were my causes for falling off track but the direction I received from both of his books put me at ease and equipped me with the knowledge I needed to battle my financial issues. I have never been on better solid ground and I have lived free of harassing phone calls.

Good credit is essential to having a financially healthy lifestyle. I now have a home my kids can call their own, debt free, even finished paying off my car, and the best is I am landlord free for the first time in my life! I now feel like I am living the American dream!
