Book Description

December 1, 1999
Dr. Pashu Battu is an engineer at The Agency, where he has created an in vitro engineered life form: The Creech, creature unbound by man's self-imposed physical limitations. When Battu realizes The Agency intends to exploit The Creech in the name of power and destruction, he resolves to prevent an inevitable tragedy by sabotaging The Agency's project -- but he needs help to do it.

Chris Rafferty's first assignment as a reporter is to investigate claims made by a religious cult that The Agency has manifested a "demon". When he meets Dr. Battu, who offers to give him an expose in exchange for Rafferty's commitment to help defeat The Agency and reveal the truth, he agrees. But when Battu's plan goes awry and the creature is loosed on the city, he finds himself trapped in a surreal nightmare where all reality is called into question.

About the Author

Greg Capullo, Creator, Writer, and Penciller, is a self-taught artist who made his way from doodling in high school to commercial advertising. His first comic work, Gore Shriek, was published by a local comic shop in Albany, New York, and shortly thereafter, Greg began working for Marvel on What if?, Quasar, and X-Force. Todd McFarlane then convinced him to leave Marvel to pencil Spawn, where he has been since issue 26. Greg also has worked on various other projects including the award-winning CD jacket for KORN's Follow the Leader and his own successful three-issue mini series, The Creech. Greg has a great sense of humor and is thankful that his lovely wife, Michelle, manages to put up with his crazy schedule. His hobbies include bodybuilding, music and playing guitar, playing chess, and watching Anime/Japanimation-style cartoons such as Akira.

5.0 out of 5 stars Genius!!! Pure genius!!!, November 20, 2001
By
This review is from: The Creech: Rage Against Death (Paperback)
WOW!!! I am a big fan of Greg Capullo's artwork in the "Spawn Saga" of comics, so when I saw this graphic novel, "The Creech:Rage Against Death" that was written and drawn by him, I absolutely went wild and bought it!
When I read it, my great expectations were fulfilled! This is a brilliant sci-fi graphic novel with an excellent story and spectacular artwork!!
It's a story reminiscent of Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein" and Chris Claremont's "X-Men". It's about this corrupt leader of a shadowy government organization called "The Agency" who creates this biological mutant war-machine known as the Creech, and thus, because of all the cloning and genetic procedures he had done on the creature, and with all the controversy on cloning going around the world, he and his fellow associates have gained several enemies, such as the notorious religious radicalist group known as "The Voice of God".
But the scientist who was responsible for creating the Creech is determined that no matter what the Agency thinks and does to him, that he is somehow going to give the Creech human instincts and stop it from becoming a war-machine. But, before the scientist's procedures and expirements are fully completed in order to transform the Creech, the hideous creature escapes, leaving a bloody trail of death and destruction throughout the city!!
So just who is the Creech? What is his secret origin? Will the Agency be able to stop his bloody, hellish rampage? And what's more, will the power of humanity itself catch up with the Creech and show him the true way of existence?
I urge every comic book and sci-fi fan out there to pick up this great, groundbreaking graphic novel and find the answers to these dark mysteries!! You definitely won't regret it!!
And I myself can say, that without a doubt, that this is the greatest graphic novel that I've ever read!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Creech-tastic!, October 10, 2010

This review is from: The Creech: Rage Against Death (Paperback)
Greg Capullo pulls it off yet again with another great comic! The only thing better than the story and it's moral is the artwork. If you are a Capullo fan the least bit what so ever I would STRONGLY advise you to buy this comic. Only hope to see more of the creech on down the line.

Greg Capullo is the definition of a selftaught master. Would get that last star if Todd McF had done the inks.
