Love the CD!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Creed (Audio CD)
I love this CD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes I know Michael left. Which is sad and now the only people who aren't new are Janna Long and Jody McBrayer. My favorite songs are I bring it to you(5 stars) and All(5 stars). Also I love the song after I bring it to you and I believe it is called Walk on(5 stars) it tells about when the rapture comes. I am ten years old and people tink it is weird that i love avalon at a young age but i can't help it is sooooooooooooo good. I highly recommend it!

My favorite all-time album. I can't get tired of this cd. All the songs hit the mark. A great album that provides encouragement in all aspects of one's life. Greg Long is a perfect addition to the group. I just hope he will continue to record solo albums on the side. If you get a chance - see Avalon in concert.

I am a big Avalon fan but have to admit that this is their weakest album to date. It seems that the changes in line - up and most notably the departure of Michael Passons are really starting to show. For the most part the group sound like they are simply going through the motions, sticking to a formula that is beginning to sound a little tired. There is no doubt that all four members possess outstanding voices but there is a tendancy to 'over sing' the ballads to the point that they sound rather laboured and it becomes a case of who can shout the loudest. There are a few highlights hidden here including the mid tempo 'Far Away From Here',the soaring ballad 'I Bring It To You' and new member Greg Long's solo 'I Wanna Be With You' which showcase the group at it's best. The more up beat and 'funky' numbers such as 'Overjoyed' and 'The Good Way' however sound like album fillers and are just plain dull. I have high hopes for ex-Avalon Michael Passon's forthcoming album and hope that he decides to try something fresh and new.

Best Avalon CD,
A Kid's Review

I have gotten into Avalon over the past two month and just love them. I hear lots of their songs over the radion and own "TESTIFY TO LOVE" and love them all. But I think the best cd of theirs is "CREED" Just because two left doesn't mean that it's gonna be that bad. In fact I think it sounds even better. Greg Long joining the group was teriffic. In all I believe Avalon keeps getting better.

New Avalon = New Sound,
By CMCY (Winnipeg, MB) - See all my reviews

There's no need to be bitter with the departure of half of Avalon! Sure, it's a different group and a different sound, but all that's important is that the music and lyrics are pleasing to (and glorifies) Him. Although the loss of two members can be considered a devastating loss, two new members can enjoy being part of this awesome group. I'm completely positive that Avalon's dedication and fire for God has not changed...THAT'S what's important! For those not so pleased with the "new sound" of The Creed, this is the first album done by this new group, so give 'em a chance. Wait for the release of the next few CDs...then make your decision.

The more I listen to this the more I love it,

The four vocalists are each very talented, but would sound better individually than together. I think Greg is very talented and has a great voice, but he can never replace Michael. Their sound is a little different, but their music is very catchy and I love all of the songs. I miss the sound of the original members, Michael and Cherie. Michael had the voice of an angel--a gift from God that tugged at my heartstrings, and Cherie had such a soothing tone to her voice. I do agree with other reviewers about the inablility to recognize who is singing. I noticed this at first, but the more I listen to the album the more I can differentiate the voices. The harmonies and personalities are not as clear and crisp as they were on the previous albums, but this is still one of my favorite albums to listen to, and I will continue to be a fan and support them and their ministry as long as they keep their fire burning for the Lord!

"The Creed" is Avalon at it BEST!,

This is my second Avalon CD and although at first I did not listen to it as often, I took "The Creed" with me on a 5 day hike in Colorado and I couldn't stop listening to it. The lyrics are very profound and the music is uplifitng and inspirational. I did not notice a big difference with the change of artists in the group, but then again, maybe I was too mesmerized with the words and music to care. I highly recommend this CD if you are looking to plug in to an awesome God. "The Creed" is a totally spiritual experience - it has changed my life...

The Creed,
This review is from: Creed (Audio CD)
I have been a long-time Avalon listener and own all their collections. I became hooked on Avalon after listening to their first album. But in my opinion, the group's subsequent albums never measured up to the first one, UNTIL The Creed.
Every song (except You Were There) gives me goose bumps, especially when played with some volume. The words, the powerful vocals and harmony, the music - not enough good things can be said about this collection of songs. I have not been able to take the CD out of my player since I bought it a month ago - and I continually hear new things every time I play it. I go to bed at night with a song from the album playing in my mind and wake up singing a song from it. I highly recommend it.

The New Sound of Avalon,
By Chris "chrisverde" (Virginia, USA) - See all my reviews

I give this new album 3 stars. I subtracted two stars for the devastating losses of Michael and Cherie. I hope their exits mean that God has found an even greater way for them to serve him.Avalon has long been my favorite Christian band...but this new CD did leave me slightly dissapointed. The songs "All" and "Overjoyed" are both INCREDIBLE! ("Overjoyed" also appears on Janna's solo debut album). "The Creed" is excellent! "I Want to Be With You" is good - but not Avalon's usual style. I disagree with the comment that "Far Away From Here" sounds like screaming. I rather enjoy the song, but do agree that it isn't something I'd expect from Avalon. "I Bring It to You" sung by Melissa is a good song with promising vocals - although it doesn't compare to Janna's amazingly powerful vocal ability. (But it's still good!) "The Good Way" sounds warped - sorry. "Abundantly" is a nice, slow song by Janna - hers is the only discernable voice though. All in all, I think Janna is carrying the band with this CD, with the exception of "All" which is, I agree, the sound of Avalon. If you're wondering - the CD is worth the money I paid for it...just to have "All."

New and IMPROVED!!,

This review is from: Creed (Audio CD)
Being in Christian radio for the past 15 years, I have had the opportunity to watch and listen to Avalon evolve personally and musically. Contrary to the review below, I along with many of my On Air Staff believe that this is Avalon's best effort yet. Yes Avalon has changed with the addition of Two new members, Greg Long and Mellisa Greene, however in adding those new members, Avalon has once again matured and taken their ministry to the next level. From a radio perspective, in order for Avalon the remain relevent in this ever changing landscape of Christian Music, they needed to make a change and make some New noise... and the sound of these New members were just the trick. Songs like their current radio single All headed straight to #1, You Were There (look for this song to be Song of The Year), I Bring It To You and The Creed show us all a new and exciting direction that God has taken their ministry. We should all be so greatfull that we are fortunate to be a part of this incredible journey. A new much more relevant sound, the same ministry and an Incredible New Album... A must have! I know you will enjoy it.
