strong Big Sky early twentieth holiday romance,
This review is from: A Creed Country Christmas (Hqn) (Hardcover)
In December 1910 her Denver based family disowned Juliana Mitchell for refusing to marry because they demanded she do so. Instead she obtains work as a teacher at an Indian school in Stillwater Springs, Montana. She takes it personally when the school is shut. She worries about the welfare of her four students, but has no funds and her pompous brother refuses to send what is legally hers.
Widowed cowboy Lincoln Creed has failed to find a governess or for that matter anyone to care for his seven year old daughter Gracie. He knows of Juliana's plight so offers her a deal that he assumes she cannot refuse. Juliana accepts his offer to stay at the Stillwater Springs Ranch with her students and his daughter for Christmas. As the two adults are caught in a compromising situation that forces them to marry, each wonders whether it will prove a Yuletide gift wrapped in love or otherwise. The latest tale in the Creed saga is a terrific entry starring the legendary Lincoln and the Indian School teacher who proves to him the lightning of love can strike twice. The lead couple makes the story line starting in the general store in which Lincoln reprimands the owner for his nasty treatment of the children and his buying the tin. Although the kids especially Gracie are a bit too precocious, the audience will appreciate this strong character driven Big Sky early twentieth holiday romance. Harriet Klausner

Loved the book and writing but to charge 9.99 for a half-sized book is very disappointing. I don't mind paying for a full price book but this is half the length of most novels.
Great story and writing :)

A Creed Country Christmas,
This review is from: A Creed Country Christmas (Hqn) (Hardcover)
This is probably my favorite of Linda Lael Miller's books that I've read so far. You actually don't even have to read any of the others to appreciate this one although it does give background for them.
Lincoln Creed lives in the wilderness of Montana on his ranch with his young daughter. Desperate for someone to help raise her luck finds him when he encounters Juliana Mitchell at the local general store. Juliana is desperate; she had just been given news that there will be no funding to help the Indian school at which she teaches and she and her four pupils have no where to go. Lincoln opens up his home and with beautiful Juliana, he might possibly open up his heart too. I like historical romances. I think they're more tender and express a different mind set than the modern ones. I find the characters better too although that might just be my opinion. Lincoln Creed was especially wonderful and I wouldn't have minded reading more about him. Juliana too, although a little too modern for the times, was a nice character and the author made her feel very caring without making it fake. The only fault I would find is that none of the children are really developed too much in the book which is sad because they play such a large part in it. Since this is a romance there is of course some light sex in it. If that's not your thing, don't read it. But Miller has a nice easy writing style and her romances are easy to get caught up in. This one is especially gentle with no huge conflict, but enough little problems to make it realistic. It was a Christmas novel too which is always cheery because of the subject matter. A nice job by Miller and definitely a book that will keep me interested in her writing. Off to find some more of those devilish Creed books... Christmas Holiday Romance,
By
This review is from: A Creed Country Christmas (Hqn) (Hardcover)
If you want just a light romantic Christmas tale-this is it! It's a typical LLM book. I hadn't cared for her other Montana Creed books-she has some I like-some that just don't ring true. However this one has all the key ingredients for a sentimental Christmas story. Julianna, a teacher at the Indian School has been left with 4 of her students-2 who are orphans-alone, homeless and of course no money. Step up Rancher Lincoln Creed, widower with a 7 year old intelligent little girl who wants nothing more than to go to school. OF course he takes them all to his ranch and what transpires from there is fairly predictable but still makes for a nice heart warming tale. It's a story of Lincoln learning to let go of a past love and Julianna letting someone help her after years of handling things alone. I will have to say I miss a dog or cat or pet of some kind in the story-there usually seems to be at least one in Linda's books but alas none here. However, it's a quick light read so if you're in the mood for a fun Christmas romance-try this one.

From a Montana Creeds Series Fan,
This review is from: A Creed Country Christmas (Hqn) (Hardcover)
My first experience with Linda Lael Miller was her Montana Creeds Series. I had my favorite, but honestly, I loved them all. After I read the last book, I thought that would be all until I saw A CREED COUNRTY CHRISTMAS available. I thought this would be a continuation of the Creed brothers--Logan, Dylan, and Tyler. It's not. The author takes readers back to 1910 where it all began.
Lincoln Creed lost his wife. He's not looking for love. His heart is closed since the woman he truly loved is died. All he would like is a governess to teach his daughter, Gracie. Lincoln is in town at the Stillwater Springs Courier to see if anyone has responded to his ad when he meets Juliana Mitchell, a teacher from the Indian School. She isn't alone. Four of her students are in her care. With a snow storm heading their way, he offers her and the children a ride. That's when he discovers the school has been shut down and they have no place to go. Lincoln offers them a place to stay, but trouble is coming. Juliana has no way to provide for herself and someone from the government will be coming soon to take the children. She couldn't let that happen. Part of the solution is an easy one or so it seems, but the attraction between Juliana and Lincoln is unexpected. He still has issues left to resolve before he can love again. Linda Lael Miller creates a world I'd love to live in. This latest was such an uplifting experience. There wasn't much in the way of love scenes. In fact, I only recall one at the end, but the book definitely a page-turner as I read it all in one evening.

For the past several years Linda Lael Miller has released stories around the holidays that I have greatly enjoyed. This one did not disappoint. I hadn't read the earlier Creed books, but I realized that since this title was historical it could stand alone. Juliana and Lincoln are interesting characters that stand up for what they believe in and that's why they are perfect for each other. Both are compassionate and as the story progresses you really grow attached to the characters. The children in the story are written in a believable way that is neither irritating or too precocious. It's a short story and can probably be read in one sitting, so put on your pajamas, drink some hot cocoa and settle in for a great holiday read!

I bought this book just for the reason that Linda Lael Miller wrote it. I love all Linda's books, and this was no exception. It was a wonderful Christmas story where all of your Christmas wishes come true and there is a happy ending at the last turn of the page. I was very disappointed when I came to the end of this book, because it was the end. I loved it!

I really enjoyed this book. It captured the essence of spirte of christmas. The daughter is the spirte of christmas that helps Jillian and Mitch get together. The couple will not admit it that they love each other. With the winter storms, chores and other things that happen they realize what they have. It could be ruined by the Indian Goverment guy and when Mitch doesn't come home after going to town to visit with his brother. Mitch get caught in a sudden winter storm and doesn't make it back that night. Will Jillian lost her love of her life when she just found him? Will a Christmas miracle happen? It is a good feeling story for when you need to believe in something good. It gave me my warm and fuzzies.

Heartwarming Christmas Romance,

This review is from: A Creed Country Christmas (Hqn) (Hardcover)
While this novel might be short, Ms. Miller definitely delivers a very full, rich, and uplifting story. Lincoln, Juliana, and all the secondary characters (especially the children) make this story a must-read. The story itself is at once feel-good, and sad. The quick courtship between Lincoln and Juliana is surprisingly romantic and sweet. This is definitely a novel that should be read and re-read through the year. I have yet to read the Montana Creeds series, but reading those contemporary books wasn't at all necessary to enjoy this turn-of-the-century story of their Creed ancestor.
