An essential text for understanding Islam,
By
This review is from: The Creed of Imam al-Tahawi (Hardcover)
With all the nonsense talked about Islam by Non-Muslims and Muslims alike its great to see the emergence of translations of the essential books from the Muslim scholars that unify the community on common belief. The Creed of Imam Tahawi is one of the most important and universally accepted texts on Muslim belief and this is a fine translation by a contemporary scholar. It has been welcomed by Muslim scholars and even by Archbishop Rowan Williams. It is also great to see the revival of the tradition of Ijaza, that is the authentication of the translation by a scholar who forms part of the human chain of transmission that goes back to the orignial author and thus guarantees that the text is understood as it was intended to be by the Author.

This review is from: The Creed of Imam al-Tahawi (Hardcover)
Hamza Yusuf's annotated translation of the Creed of Imam Tahawi is an excellent resource in learning the basic fundamental beliefs of Sunni Muslims. The translation also includes some essays on some imporant Muslim scholars and issues that need to be clarified.

Contributes to the revival of classical Islamic scholarship,

This review is from: The Creed of Imam al-Tahawi (Hardcover)
A great translation of classical Islamic scholarship(thanks to Hamza Yusuf), that provides a concise and understandable approach to Aqidah, that is, Islamic creed/beliefs (thanks to Imam al-Tahawi). Highly recommended for every Muslim, and for every non-Muslim wanting to learn about Islam from a reliable source. The original text itself has already been "reviewed" by history; it still stands as one of the foundational texts of Islamic belief.
