3.0 out of 5 stars A different kind of Review...
I'm not going to give something a bad review just because I don't agree with its philosophy. Furthermore I will not praise it because I agree with it. Which seems to account for all the reviews I see here.

This book is basically out of print. I borrowed a copy a few years ago off of a neo-nazi that I know. The writing style is decent as far as the wording and...

5.0 out of 5 stars The path Europeans should walk., July 5, 2005

This book details how Northern Europeans once lived, and how we should live again. It sets forth a doctrine to correct our course as a people, a people who have become weak, lazy, fat, and ignorant, under the suicidal ALIEN Judeo-Christian Religion. A Religion must by tied to the ancestral blood of its followers and practitioners; the Judeo-Christian religion would only be linked to those who are of Jewish descent since the "god of the Bible" is their ancestral deity, while Wotanism (or "Odinism") is of and for those of Northern European stock. Before Christianity swept across Europe at the point of the sword, our ancestors worshipped their own Gods, of their own free will. They lived in peace, at harmony with nature, at one with the Universe. Since the forced conversions of our people, we have been on a slow and steady decline, both morally and physically. "CREED OF IRON" shows us the way back up that slope. I also highly recommend "TEMPLE OF WOTAN" by Ron McVan, as it builds upon "CREED OF IRON".

This book is not "Racist"; the first two reviewers evidently do not understand the meaning of a FOLKISH Religion. A Folkish Religion is tied to the blood of the people who practice it; any non-European who attempted to become a Wotanist would fail miserably because Wotan does not live in their blood. Just as Judaism (and Christianity by extension) is a Folkish Religion for Jews, Wotanism is a Folkish Religion for the Northern European, and those descended from Northern Europeans.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Well-written Book, Giving an Excellent Introduction to Folkish-Asatru., December 3, 2005

This review is from: Creed of Iron--Wotansvolk Wisdom (Paperback)
Creed of Iron is a well-written book, giving an excellent introduction to folkish-Asatru and offering a wealth of accumulated Gnostic teachings, spiritual focus and ancestral pride.

Ron McVan gives us insight into the Path of Wotan. We learn of the `Horned Gods', the `Wotanist Warrior', the `Rites of Sejdr', and the Runes.

Creed of Iron also introduces us to the Aryan Ethic, offering such instruction as:

>>Act nobly and courageously
>>Be honest, be disciplined, be productive, and loyal to friends
>>Respect the wisdom of your elders
>>Honor your mate, provide for your children and carry no quarrel with family to sleep-time.

... along with other well-reasoned codes for living a strong, honorable life.

There is an introduction to ancient Aryan symbols such as Thor's Hammer, the Valknot, the Trefot, Irminsul, the Celtic Cross, and the Helm of Awe.

Creed of Iron also offers an in-depth discussion of the Aryan Calendar, how it relates to the Gods and their associated festivals. We are also introduced to the Blot and Sumbel - Wotansvolk Ceremonies.

Some other reviewers of Creed of Iron have claimed that it is "racist literature", but I found nothing whatsoever in this book that in anyway disparages or condemns any other race, people, or culture. If Ron McVan holds `racist beliefs' (and maybe he does) this is not reflected in Creed of Iron.

Overall, I found Creed of Iron to be an excellent book for anyone wanting to gain insight into folkish-Asatru. It contains excellent and inspirational artwork and many aphorisms to guide one in leading an honorable life.

Highly Recommended ~ Reflecting The True Path of the Odinist!

4.0 out of 5 stars The search for Spirituality, October 16, 2004
This review is from: Creed of Iron--Wotansvolk Wisdom (Paperback)
This work is an effort of superb consideration of the 'ideals' of Western man's search for the roots of who and what he is. The esoteric truths may be hard for a 'modern', who has been disconnected from those which make up his corporate unit, his Race.
David Lane, the mind behind this expose', has fullfilled the prerequisite of 'going there', a travel which the weak would never dare; although there seems to be no 'end' to their criticisms. If you are looking for 'rules', 'laws', and the naturalistic concepts which made Western man who he, ultimately is, then this book will aid in your search. All disciples of 'learning' are, at times, inexact, but it is the postulations and 'ground covered' which marks this work as a MUST read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Want your children to survive? - Buy this book!, December 19, 2000

The most precious book in my library. It's a pitty that people from Russia and Ukraine hardly can't get it. I rated Creed of Iron 5 stars, but if it will tell you something - I'm going to translate and publish in Russian this book - that's my rating.

Creed of Iron - impressive and perfectly illustrated book for those who want not only read about "Nordic Gods and the stuff", but who feels the Northern Blood running through the veins, the blood of Gods. For those who live like our pride ancestors, and honors them with their deeds. Read this book and you will find the way to LIVE respecring your true heritage, not to play or "study" your ancestry. Hail Ron MacVan! Long life to you Brother!

Hail Our Gods!May them live in our deeds!

5.0 out of 5 stars A True Leader!, December 24, 2000
By
Mr S Jones, BA MA (Newcastle upon Tyne United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Creed of Iron--Wotansvolk Wisdom (Paperback)
Critical reviewers have said that Creed of Iron pushes a political line, or 'academics' say that Heathen lifestyle is best understood by studying antique sources. But they are entirely missing the point. In pre-Modern times the leaders of the folk combined both political, territorial and cultural imperatives in all their actions and thoughts. So how else could it be for those struggling to restore the true religion and community of the Euro-Germanic peoples at this time?

It is this synthesis that Ron acheives in his works. Ron McVan's writings and art (in Creed of Iron, Temple of Wotan, and the magazine Focus Fourteen) are the texts I turn to for creative, philosophical, spiritual and political guidance. I for one am grateful to the Aesir that today's Teutons and Celts have such inspired leaders as Ron.

4.0 out of 5 stars Concise & Thoughtful Text, September 22, 2005
This review is from: Creed of Iron--Wotansvolk Wisdom (Paperback)
I enjoyed reading Creed of Iron because it worked wonderfully as a primer. It's not easy to simply "jump" into Heathenism, Odinism, Odalism, Wotanism,Asatru etc. This book works well as a gateway into a vast historical and esoteric world. If there's one book that covers everything in this particular "genre" I haven't come accross it yet and I'd be willing to bet no such text could possibly exist.
Many who read this text find techinal or interprative problems, and that's fine. Never-the-less this book does a good job of combining historical and mystical information into a small volume. In the end I recommend this book for all the above reasons and I subtract one star simply because it could easily contain more depth.
If you're interested in writings that are probably going to augment this book I'd STRONGLY recommend Guido Von List's seminal text "The Secret of the Runes". Any book written by Stephen E. Flowers or those written by him under "pen names" are very informative. "Might Is Right" by: Ragnar Redbeard is an extremely interesting philosophical work as well. I'd recommend ANY book written by Oswald Spengler, Francis Parker Yockey, and Julius Evola. The latter two authors have wonderful texts such as Yockey's "Imperium" and Evola's "Revolt Against the Modern World". I recommend these books simply because they provide a comprehensive philosophy for those who live in today's world; in order to appreciate and enjoy the value of Heathenism, Odinism, Wotanism, etc. Understand the WHY first, and then delve into the complex and difficult world of the esoteric and spiritual. I have not read McVan's other text yet, but I plan to because I enjoyed Creed of Iron so much.

Note: There are several reviews by some who claim to be Heathens, Odalists, Wotanists, etc., and yet they lack the desire to: A. Survive & B. Pass this spiritualism to future generations. The reviews of these people are the reviews of cowards. Their reviews almost always revolve around popular opinion. These popular opinions come from a society that may be the most decadant in human history; as well as opinions of those who are followers of the faiths of intruders who were the destroyers and persecutors of Heathen beliefs and those who practiced and believed in them.
Others simply label this book as "racist". This is a SWEEPING GENERALIZATION, and they should be ashamed at their own simple-minded nature. How dare they defame beliefs that stem so far back they predate Judeo-Christiandom! How dare they criticize my right to be able to exist, and my desire that my heritage and culture exist. Truth like water seeks its own level.

I dedicate these last words to the reviewer(s) who calls themselves "Nauseating"--quite an apt name for them as well. I have 14 words just for YOU "Nauseating": Bitter, Jealous, Simple, Extrinsic, Idealogue, Weakling, Grungy, Privation, Goy, Fool, Carbuncle, Degenerate, Scrofulous, Coward.

5.0 out of 5 stars Creed is essential, January 30, 2000
This review is from: Creed of Iron--Wotansvolk Wisdom (Paperback)
Some people read various meditation books to jump start their days. My day is kicked into overdrive by this astounding book. If 6 stars were possible, that is what it would rate as it is an honest, read; real assessment of our Nordic heritage. It is not perfect and I would not want it to be. The effect of a graphic in the book is one I can't forget, it has a Viking that speaks a thousand languages but only one translated, the heart. It is also technical in that it has the ancient holidays and the mysterious tree of life. It is indeed a book that you cannot allow to sit idle for long as it calls out as the runes it discusses do. This must be experienced first hand to understand the effect. One last item concerning this amazing book, my little girl who is 6 loves it, and is starting to be able to read and understand it. If I were a missionary, this is the book I'd peddle.

4.0 out of 5 stars A dynamic and forthright book for Odinists, April 6, 2000
This review is from: Creed of Iron--Wotansvolk Wisdom (Paperback)
Ron McVan's Creed of Iron is dynamic book and should appeal to Odinists/Wotanists/Asatruar of a folkish persuasion.

Creed of Iron covers much ground and presents Wotanism as a faith for today's world. It is neither dry nor overly scholarly. Instead it presents the Wotanism as a spirituality of power and might.

There are a few things with which I am uncomfortable which is why I only awarded it four stars. The first, is that various sources are hinted at but never given. I find this frustrating because I would like to read them. The second is that some of the information seems to come from Kabbalistic sources and this seems at odds with Wotansvolk's socio-political stance.

These small difficulties aside it is a book to which I constantly return as much for its inspiration as for its information.

Read Creed of Iron and awaken the powers within! Hail Odin! Hail the Folk!

5.0 out of 5 stars True Folkish Wotanism!, September 25, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Creed of Iron--Wotansvolk Wisdom (Paperback)
This is a great introduction to the teachings of our Teutonic forefathers. The northern spiritual undertaking is the quest for godhood through the mystery of the blood and the worship of the soil as the life provider for the race. The Nordic archtypes represented in the Germanic pantheon are different reflections of the Aryan mind. Ron McVan captures the essence of Wotanism as it was practiced by the Germanic tribes prior to their conversion to Christianity. WARNING: This is not new age asatru or universalist Germanicized wicca for limp wristed pansies or aliens not of our racial genotype! Hail Walwater Wotan! Heilsa Kindred!

5.0 out of 5 stars Creed Of Iron, December 17, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Creed of Iron--Wotansvolk Wisdom (Paperback)
I originally bought this book through the 14 Words Press over ten years ago, but moving around I lost it. I finally came across it again here on Amazon and decided to buy it again. This is a Wotanist primer, and Ron McVan does a good job introducing the subject matter to the neophyte of our Holy Faith. Some may say this White Supremacist propaganda wrapped in a religious context, but I would have to disagree strongly (McVan is not a White Supremacist but a White Separatist), the politically correct crowd and the leftist always consider scream about white supremacy, when they happen to disagree with a white persons point of view. This book is not intended for the leftist crowd that wants to turn Asatru/Odinism/Wotanism, into a mundane universalist religion, after all the world already has the death centered creed of Christianity for that. Inclosin I highly recommend this book as Wotanism is the true path for any proud Aryan man or woman to follow. Follow the tenets of the faith and live a noble and heroic life, and when you die may Wotan receive you well in the halls of Valhalla.
