As a consequence of their mutual interest in finding the missing child, the cop, Devin, and the psychic, Samara, become involved in a stormy relationship, which each has difficulty accepting due to previous misadventures with the opposite sex. He is drawn to the mysteriousness which surrounds her and ruthlessly pursues her, although she resists him at every turn. A life-threatening incident brings them together in a romantic way, beginning the tumultuous, up and down relationship between them.
