Book Description

February 20, 2009

"In 1986, when I first discovered LDN, if I had Mary Boyle Bradley on my team, this drug would have been approved, marketed and manufactured by a reputable pharmaceutical company. I have no doubt about that." Dr. Bernard Bihari

The story is simple. It is about love, life and hope. After years of battling with the onslaught of her husband's Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis, Mary stumbled on a little known doctor in New York City, Dr. Bernard Bihari. Many people on the internet claimed that Dr. Bihari knew how to stop every type of MS from progressing. Even better, it was claimed that he could help everyone with an autoimmune disorder, ranging from psoriasis to AIDS. It was claimed that Dr. Bihari could help them with Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN). Eventually, Mary's husband took a leap of faith and put Dr. Bihari's work to the test. LDN worked. It stopped his MS from progressing. Since September 2002, a worldwide campaign has ignited with passionate momentum to get LDN medically recognized as a treatment for MS and all autoimmune disorders. LDN is a cheap, generic, out of patent drug with no known side-effects. Despite the fact that there is no financial incentive to entice any pharmaceutical company to investigate new uses for Naltrexone, the ambition is for LDN to hit the masses and improve the lives of millions. Small scale LDN clinical trials are finally making progress across the globe and are paving the way for a much better future for everyone who suffers from an autoimmune disorder.

Editorial Reviews

From the Inside Flap

A Special Note from Dr. Bernard Bihari:

In 1986, when I first discovered low dose naltrexone if I had Mary on my team, this drug would have been approved, marketed and manufactured by a reputable pharmaceutical company. I have no doubt about this.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Mary Bradley and her husband, Noel, for more than six years. Mary's book, Up the Creek with a Paddle, is a superbly honest and truthful testimony to the benefits of taking Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN). Mary details Noel's success with LDN for his Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis in particular, and also includes many other LDN stories from people with a variety of autoimmune diseases.

Mary has been a true soldier and endless fighter in her pursuit to get LDN to the public, so that they too may benefit from taking this once a day, inexpensive capsule and reap the benefits of this amazing drug.

Mary is a gifted author and I am truly blessed that she is in my life, both as a friend and as a valiant crusader on behalf of LDN. She is one of the most passionate and caring human beings that I have come to know.

Bernard Bihari, M.D. New York City December 3, 2008

As manager of "The Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) and Colloidal Minerals Webring," I am always on the lookout for good sources of information about LDN. This book describes in a very personal and readable manner the health benefits to be derived from taking LDN. The author deftly handles the controversies surrounding LDN, while, at the same time, telling in plain and simple language how and why LDN works for so many different conditions. I was particularly impressed by the author's zeal to share this information with the sick and the suffering, many of whom could potentially benefit from taking LDN. This book is an absolute MUST read for anyone afflicted with HIV/AIDS, cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, and autoimmune diseases.

I am a skeptic by nature; therefore, it is not easy to impress me. I am a researcher by profession, therefore, I research everything I read, hear or see, moreover, I cross-search my research findings.

That being said let me now tell you that this book gave me hope. If you think that is not very much, consider this: If one does not have hope, NOTHING is possible. Ms. Bradley has done an excellent job. The book is easy to read and gives invaluable information to multiple sclerosis sufferers everywhere. I am an avid reader, but I dare say, this is one of the most important books I have ever read. Well done, Mary Boyle Bradley, and please keep up the good work.

I was given this book to read after being diagnosed with MS. I followed up by reading as much information as I could find on websites about LDN, I started taking it in December 2007 and haven't looked back since, I have had no more symptoms. What an amazing person Mary is to have written this book to help so many people.
