"Yeah, you sure are different...",

...but sometimes it's okay to be different."
If you and your child are on the threshold of slipping into the uncertainty of the "middle school years," you will want to look carefully at Victoria Alexander Bennett's lively, fast-paced story. "The Creeps in Room 112," takes us into how the world appears to a learning-disabled student whose experiences remind us of what everyone remembers - that it is easier to concede defeat, rather than subject ourselves to the rigors of overcoming life's obstacles. An experienced educator, the author points to the ample gifts found in every young person as she moves the reader through a complex maze of peer pressure, self-consciousness and the frightening prospect of failure. Bennett's stark lessons are powerfully demonstrated as she gives parents and children, guidelines essential to overcome the inevitable rough spots of a time in life when we are desperate for love - but are often least lovable. Her brief but animated presentation leaves one wondering where the never-say-die Lexie Lockhart's instructive journey might finally take her. I look forward to Story II.
