4.0 out of 5 stars Funky music with CD
I have not used this book with its CD at school yet but am looking forward to sharing it with my class. I bought this book as it seemed to be a good companion to have with The Farmyard Jamboree which I had already ordered from Amazon.com. My young class love music so it is good to have such excellent books to share with them and let them see what a range of musical...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Book, CD not so good
Purchased this online because Animal Boogie was such a great book and fun CD. Debbie Harter's artwork is just as spectacular here but the sound at the beginning of the CD is muddy and the song/story is much shorter.

Other good books with great art and really good CD's are the Baby Loves Jazz series. My 2-year-old particularly like Duck Ellington and Leo the...

4.0 out of 5 stars Funky music with CD, May 10, 2007
This review is from: Creepy Crawly Calypso (Paperback)
I have not used this book with its CD at school yet but am looking forward to sharing it with my class. I bought this book as it seemed to be a good companion to have with The Farmyard Jamboree which I had already ordered from Amazon.com. My young class love music so it is good to have such excellent books to share with them and let them see what a range of musical instrumments are around. When I was a child I remember listening to Peter and the Wolf and learning to distinguish the different classical instrument's sounds, and it always remained with me as my first real introduction to the instruments of a classical orchestra. This book/CD does the same with jazz instruments as well as using a range of interesting insects into the bargain.

4.0 out of 5 stars Catchy Tune, Colorful Bugs, January 8, 2007

I'm not exactly sure why, but for some reason my two-year-old daughter is totally smitten with this book and calypso tune. I can assure you I have played the CD that accompanies the book SO MANY TIMES in my car that the two of us can sing it backwards. The info about musical instruments at the back is over her head, but would be great for music teachers or older (5+) kids interested in music. bnm

5.0 out of 5 stars Creepy Crawly Calypso - Big Hit!, June 8, 2008

This review is from: Creepy Crawly Calypso (Paperback)
The Creepy Crawly Calypso is a great book and CD to use with pre-school
to 1st or even 2nd grade. The introduction of all the calypso instruments is a wonderful teaching tool. The kids get to listen to the sounds of the different instruments and see the pictures too. They are encouraged to listen for each instrument during the song.
