Go. Do it now. Come back when you're done.
Now let me tell you what an absolute thrill you are in for!
Some of the artwork found in those Warren Magazines of the sixties and seventies, is among the greatest ever produced for the comic medium. The names are legendary; we know them all.
Some of the best artwork done during that heady time was by a guy named Berni Wrightson, who subsequently put the "e" back on his first name.
Mr. Wrightson is one of our greatest living comic artists, and some of HIS best work was seen in these pages.
So...take EVERYTHING he did for Warren, in a ridiculously affordable but lovingly produced package...and you have one of the archival collections of the year.
You will sit goggle-eyed and astonished at the brushwork here, beautifully reproduced on thick stock.
Stories I can remember as if I read them yesterday are here. "The Black Cat", "Jenifer", "The Pepper Lake Monster", "Nightfall", "Cool Air"...and to have "The Muck Monster" in brilliant, lurid color is a treat in and of itself.
The exquisite frontispieces from Creepy and Eerie are all here too.
There are a few surprises here as well; the context of which are illuminated by a heart-tugging introduction by Bruce Jones. Definitely read it before you start. It's well worth your time.
For fans of Creepy and Eerie, this is a must-buy. I guarantee you'll be completely satisfied.
However, I don't see the real purpose of this book. For those buying the Creepy and Eerie archives, we will see all this in future volumes... I really don't understand why this book even exists, unless it's something Dark Horse aims to do; sell us books by different artists that collaborated with Warren. If so, it'd be great to see future books on Corben (the version done by Heavy Metal some years back came out blurry and seemed to be out of focus; plus it didn't include all of Corben's work for Warren), John Severin, Russ Heath, Wally Wood, etc.Read more ›

This compilation puts together a lot of Bernie Wrightson's short horror comics in one place. Great stories. Some of them are adaptations of works by Poe. Some are all-original. Read morePublished 9 months ago by Fernando H. Ramirez

Great material but the reproduction is poor. Would rather have the original magazine. I guess I would buy it because it is brilliant script and art, just not reproduced well.Published 12 months ago by Jason B Newel
