5.0 out of 5 stars Closest shave ever.
I've tried many shaving creams over the past 40 years (including top of the line Truefitt & Hill products) and I have to say that Cremo Cream gives me the closest shave I've ever experienced. And after several months of daily use, I've yet to nick myself! Very slippery, this stuff. It does take some getting used to however, as the Cream doesn't lather up like traditional...

Interesting scent, too. Great product at a very reasonable price!

I can understand the good reviews of this product if they are coming from recent switchers of drug store foams and gels. But if you've already been using nicer shave creams or soaps, this is definitely a step down. I've been using a double-edge safety razor for a couple of years now and have tried way too many shave creams because every reviewer always has a different "best" pick. I bought a tube of this because I read multiple good reviews and the price can't be beat. Many reviewers also pointed out that this works better than $20+ creams.

Unfortunately, this simply isn't the case. The cream feels slick and doesn't smell bad, but it never gives me a close shave. I'm using Feather double edge blades, but I always feel like I need multiple passes with this product. The cream does not wash easily off the blade between swipes. When I'm done, my face feels more irritated and the cream does not wash off easily.

After trying more than 10 shave creams, my favorites so far have been Truefitt and Hill Ultimate Comfort and Proraso. Fortunately, Proraso is about the same price as Cremo Cream, so it's worth getting over this and won't put you out. I also like Art of Shaving Lavender shave cream. If you like similar products as me, then Cremo Cream probably isn't for you.

I have very sensitive skin and if I shave more than a couple times a week or if I shave too closely, my face breaks out in painful blisters. Fortunately, I also have a slow-growing beard, so I can go three or four days between shaves. Cremo Cream is the best shave cream I have ever used, hands down. For several years I went the full Art-of-Shaving route with its oils, creams, sa;ves, and brushes. It worked fine for me but was expensive and time-consuming. By contrast, Cremo Cream couldn't be simpler:

1. Wash your face in hot water for 30 seconds (preferably while showering)

2. Apply a small amount of cream to your beard

3. Shave

4. Enjoy the closest, most painless shave you've ever had.

Cremo Cream both lubricates your skin while improving your razor's performance. I don't know how, but it does.

After Crabtree and Evelyn discontinued their Almond Oil Shave Cream, which I had used since the late '80s, I went on the search for a new shave cream. My girlfriend actually bought me my first tube of Cremo, and I love it.

What I don't understand are the bad reviews. Hey people, this isn't rocket science! Anyone that says Cremo goes on thick must not have taken the time to read the back of the tube. You are supposed to use a good amount of water with this product. I use about a pea size dollop for my head, and the same amount for my face. That is more than enough. Just add plenty of hot water, and you are ready to go. Brushless does not mean waterless! Excellent product!

I use a Gillette Fusion on my head and a safety razor with Derby or Shark blades on my face.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good cream, a bit different., March 7, 2010

As a couple of other people have noted, this cream is slick rather than rich and lathery. It's supposed to be a brushless cream, but I've found that I get the best results by putting a little on a brush and using the brush to spread it on my face and work it in. An advantage of that is that, when you relather, you don't need to add more cream from the tube, there will still be enough left on the brush. Use lots of hot water.

If this is really a 60 day supply, as it says on the tube, it's a great bargain. Anyway, a small amount suffices for a good shave, so a tube should last for a long time. Smells good to me, like oranges. I got good shaves with it once I started using a brush. Not absolutely my favorite for overall quality, but very good for the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Smooth & Refreshing, June 16, 2010

Gotta love Cremo Cream.

Its a bit soapy, but is very slick, easy to wash off and has a refreshing natural lemon scent that I never tire of.

One reviewer called this product "cheap." But I've tried a number of upscale shaving products and find this one to be the best for my face (my two sons love it as well).

A little dab will do 'ya. Definitely worth a try.

5.0 out of 5 stars Product is outstanding but shipping is roll of the dice., August 29, 2009
This product is outstanding. I bought it for my husband as an impulse buy and it turned out to be something he really liked and now won't use anything else.

He tells me you don't need a lot of water on your face. When you actually shave, it slides very well on the skin. The hairs come off immediately. When your done you can rub the rest on your face, without having to wash it off. It leaves your skin soft and moisturized as any quality lotion. He has not cut himself once with this product. "Its like your shaving with soapy grease, but its not greasy at all".

And the smell is wonderful, he doesn't have to use after-shave.

The only draw back is how the first few I bought arrived. A small card board package, that at some point must have had weight on it. All three tubes arrived with cream coming out of the bottom of the tube.

The stuff was so good though he keep all three damaged tubes and used them all up.

The product is good stuff and smells great.

5.0 out of 5 stars should be on counter at Barney's, April 21, 2010

Over the past 15 years, I've been in search of an inexpensive shaving product (cream, foam, gel, lotion, magical incantation, etc.) that could match the quality and effectiveness of Erno Laszlo's Hydra-Therapy Shave Cream. The Laszlo shave cream costs $25 at Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus, and while there are certainly creams that are more expensive (e.g., Acqua di Parma's shave cream is $62), there are none that can rival Laszlo's, or so I thought. I've tried the shaving products from Kiehl's, Polåar, Shiseido, Clarins Men, Molton Brown, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Didier Rase, Dermalogica, Biotherm Homme, Vichy Homme, The Art of Shaving, Clinique, Aramis Lab Series, and many others. Some of these were very good and some were downright horrible. Even the best ones, however, failed to match the shave quality of the Laszlo. I saw the Cremo Cream on the shelf at Wegmans and I was intrigued. I threw the the Cremo Cream into my shopping basket with a soupçon of optimism, but mostly with resignation as I'd been let down by so many hollow promises of the "best shave ever!" I'm in grad school now and had resigned myself to the fact that I'd never get a quality, pain-free shave again until I got out of school and could afford the Laszlo once again. I was awed by the quality and value of Cremo Cream. It is neck-and-neck with the Laszlo as the best cream I've ever used. It is luxuriously creamy and the delicate bergamot fragrance is uplifting. I look forward to the olfactory wakeup every morning. It looks, feels, smells, and works like a shave cream that is at least three times its price. Moreover, one tube lasts a very long time because you don't need much for an effective shave. I love this stuff. I love it especially because I despise shaving. Shaving is a time-consuming, expensive, messy, and sometimes painful, necessary evil. Cremo Cream mitigates a great deal of the inconvenience, expense, discomfort, and dread. Get yourself a tube. Now. I don't think I'll ever go back to using the Laszlo. There's no reason to.

This is a very good cream at a very good price. I'd tell you that this is the best brushless cream but I wouldn't be doing it any justice. This stuff works great, you just need to give it time because it won't lather like soaps or traditional canned gels, this is a completely different animal. It will take some experimenting figuring out how much to use but once you do you'll be amazed.

Cremo works great as a brushless cream. I still use soaps because I like the traditional shave but I reach for this cream on most week mornings because I am not a morning person and just want to shave in the shower, not necessarily mess with a brush and a puck of soap and create lather. However, you can use it with a brush and bowl and it still works great. Just like with every new cream you try you will need to experiment with the water to cream ratio (every cream is different).

I use, probably, a little more than I should but I get great results. It does provide cushion, it makes the razor glide, and moisturizes very well. In fact, if you've been having dry skin issues this winter give Cremo a try. After using it I don't feel the need to use an aftershave, I still do for good measure though.

Some say that this cream smells like pina coladas, this is no longer the case. I was curious and went online and their website says they reformulated it. The scent is citrusy and I really like it, though I really don't care because it won't linger and clash with your cologne or aftershave.

By the way, in case you were wondering, I use a DE razor and it works very well with Cremo.

I usually by 3 tubes at a time because I don't want to suddenly run out and have to wait for UPS. I wish it was locally available so I could just go to the grocery store and get a tube. However, Cremo is competitively priced so it doesn't hurt me to order 3 tubes at once.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of The Best Shaves You'll Find, January 20, 2012
This review is from: Cremo Cream Shave Cream 6 fl oz (177 ml) (Health and Beauty)
First off the packaging:

Cremo arrives in a sturdy, glossy card board box, smart looking and up scale. The tube itself has a foil safety seal under the opening of the tube so you twist off the red cap to peel it off. These are packaging elements that don't come cheap.

They're either used by marginal products to justify obscene markups or small artisan manufacturers who coddle their product like a newborn and spare no expense to protect it. In this case I'm pleased to report it's the latter.

To be honest, the shave cream itself didn't meet my expectations - it exceeded them.

The product is bright white and has quite a unique opalescence to it. It shimmers and glistens letting you know right off the bat, that you just might be in store for something special.

It liquefies immediately but holds enough viscosity that it doesn't run down onto your chest and sink - a plus for head shavers.

It holds water well and slicks up immediately. I would note that using your shaving brush won't do much good - a little water from your finger tips is perfect for keeping it slick, thick and luxurious.

To give it a fair first run, I used a new Merkur 12C with a fresh and deadly sharp Feather blade.

The shave was hands down one of the best I've had from any product at any price.

The shave

Absolutely effortless and nick free. The scent is pleasant with subtle notes of fresh orange. It's not cloying and fades quickly.

Perhaps as time goes on the company will release old time favorites like Menthol, Sandalwood and Jasmine, along with an unscented version. But for now they're being savvy enough to know long term success begins by doing one thing and doing it well.

As an avid fan of old school "wet shaving" I've tried countless shave creams and Cremo goes nose to nose with very best of them - Many costing 10 times the price for a tube of Cremo. In fact each shave is as good if not better than the last.

That said, with regard to performance I've found it second to none. Plus it lasts a very long time.

All this considered at a price point of $8 makes it an excellent buy. In fact, at twice the price I would consider it a good value, but 8 bucks? are you kidding?

It's a steal.

This company does one thing. They make a superior shave cream -- and they do it brilliantly.
