Book Description

December 8, 2008
Color is on the brink of disappearance. But for Jamey, life is normal. Earth is as always -- dull and boring. Until, one winter day, he encounters a man from another universe -- an encounter that changes his life forever. Transported to an alternate universe, Jamey learns the secrets behind the colors around him, and the true struggle unseen by mere ''earthlings.'' Color is more than a hue; it's a universe made up of empires, planets, and solar systems. A universe with foreign landscapes, where dragons space travel, where planets are seconds away, and precious stones contain powers beyond imagination. In a battle between color and darkness, the Rainbows and the Darkers, the universe is thrown into chaos. Only Jamey holds the power to save the majestic beauty of color.

Leaving his home on the quiet east coast, Jamey is thrust into a perilous mission, with complete strangers as his comrades. The crusaders are in a race against time as they trek across the galaxy to capture the eight pearls, the Rainbows' ultimate weapon against the Darkers. As they skip across the planets, the soldiers encounter new worlds with fiery thunderstorms, oceanic battles, and alien creatures. Warding off his nemesis, the Dark Master, Jamey learns the art of controlling light. Leading an army into battle, he grows from a clueless earthling to a limitless warrior.

But is it enough to save the mission, the Rainbows, and color itself?

4.0 out of 5 stars Courtesy of Teens Read Too, February 3, 2010
This review is from: Cren and the War of Seven Days (Paperback)
When Jamey is kidnapped by a mysterious guy who seems bent on killing him, he unknowingly releases another from a stone. While trying to escape the guy a second time, he meets a dragon who tells him that he is a Rainbow - a defender of light and color.

Through further mishaps, a battle, and help along the way, he finds himself ten years older, with powers he doesn't understand, and in an alternate universe. The man he saved from the stone explains to Jamey that the man who kidnapped him was the Dark Master who is bent on the destruction of all color. He requests Jamey and some other warriors' help in uncovering the eight pearls, the only way to defeat the Dark Master before he attacks the heart of color in six months.

Now, Jamey must trust his life in the hands of strangers as he and his newfound companions face perils beyond their imagination, minions of the Dark Master, and evil worse than anything anyone has ever known- all in order to save his world as well as a world he barely knows.

Will Jamey learn to use his powers in time? Will he and the other warriors find the eight pearls before the Dark Master destroys everything?

Although there were parts of this story that were confusing and made the book hard to follow in places, this fast-paced adventure was well worth the read. The dragons in it are entertaining and a highlight of the book. The good characters are easy to love. The battles of good vs. evil are also unique and gripping.

Readers who like dragons, fantasy, science fiction, action, and adventure will all enjoy reading CREN AND THE WAR OF SEVEN DAYS.

5.0 out of 5 stars An original fantasy that takes its concept and executes it beautifully, March 8, 2009
This review is from: Cren and the War of Seven Days (Paperback)
Color can be more than just description. "Cren and the War of the Seven Days" follows Jamey as he learns this fact when he finds himself in an alternate universe. He learns the value of color, and that color may be the only thing to stand against the darkness. The Darkers seek to destroy color and everything alongside it, but Jamey's adventures may just give him what he needs to be able to stop them. "Cren and the War of the Seven Days" is an original fantasy that takes its concept and executes it beautifully.
