4.0 out of 5 stars An innovative experiment, March 11, 2008
This review is from: King Creole ( Elvis Paper Sleeve Collection Mini LP 24 bit 96 khz ) (Audio CD)
Released in 1958, this was the soundtrack album for the movie of the same name. It was a big hit reaching number 2 on the US album char and being certified GOLD by the RIAA. It includes the hit single Hard Headed Woman, which went to number 1 in the US and Canada and number 2 in the UK. It's flip side, was a modest hit in the US reaching 28 on the singles chart and number 4 in Canada. Additionally the title song was released as a single in the UK and went to number 2 there. Two Extended Plays were released with songs from this album and both topped the EP charts in the US.

While not as strong as his previous albums, this one is certainly musically innovative, as Elvis blends old Dixieland music with the new sound of rock and roll. A solid effort and a must for Elvis fans. This release includes several bonus tracks not included on the original album.
