The Crescent Odd Job multi-tool is a handy tool to keep in the car, or the kitchen or in the living room--wherever you might need to do some odd jobs that require basic tools. Instead of rummaging around in your tool chest, leave this somewhere handy and you'll finding yourself using it for all sorts of small tasks around the house or wherever you're at. It is a great companion for the Zibra ZPCOPEN-OR Open It Universal Package Opener as a functional multi-tool that will get a whole lot of use in daily life. Indeed, if you buy them together the Open It can help you get through the initial frustration of getting the Odd Job out of its packaging.

I really liked this item. I thought it would be especially handy in a small space, like and office (where mine will stay) or a dorm room. One of the features I really liked is that all parts that can be interchanged (such as bits) have secured compartments. I have been given multi-use tools in the past and the parts go missing as they cannot be secured.

The construction of this is exceptional. While is certainly will not replace your tools, it will be great to have around. Highly recommended.

It's a great concept. An all-in-one screwdriver and hammer all in one. It does some things well, but there are disappointments too:

PROS

1. Seven interchangeable heads, a box cutter, and a hammer in one.
2. Screwdriver has a "reverse" feature, enabling you to dial back a rotation without unscrewing.

CONS

1. Only two Phillips heads and two flatheads. Not a lot of versatility for the variety of screw heads you deal with on a regular basis. I've had several all-in-one drivers that could handle smaller machine screws, for example.

2. side compartment falls out of the handle a lot. This is quite annoying.

3. Would have preferred to have a full hammer head at the top as opposed to the hybrid we're given. The nail remover at the top is an after thought that isn't going to accommodate a lot of head sizes and has very little torque.

So this is a convenient tool to have around the house, but I'd rather take a more versatile screwdriver that can accommodate more head types, as well as a legitimate hammer.

I like that this little tool will fit into the smallest drawer in my kitchen, yet is so versatile that it performs the job of at least 5 tools.

If you have a common, small job to do, chances are that the Odd Job multi-tool is the only item you will need. It will save you the trouble of digging out your whole tool box when all you really want is a hammer, mallet or screwdriver.

WRAP RAGE ALERT!!! The biggest criticism I have is that the packaging gives new meaning to the word "clamshell". You will need a nuclear weapon to get it out of the package, and it is packed in so tightly that it is difficult to remove without damaging the tool. It took me 30 minutes just to open it without destroying the contents. More information about the wrap rage phenomenon can be found at:

http://www.amazon.com/Packaging-Videos-Green/b?ie=UTF8&node=1234279011

The packaging all by itself was enough for me to deduct one star from my rating. Otherwise, this item would have been 5 stars.

The other minor problem is that the nail puller is made of plastic; while it is STURDY plastic, it would be no match for a real metal nail driven into wood, and would break very quickly if tried. However, it would be fine for a small picture hanging nail that is driven into drywall.

This is a very handy gadget for small jobs, but I wouldn't try to use it for any major project. It it's place it is a real find!

Tired of lugging a tool box around for those small fix-it projects? Well this is probably a great investment. It is a hammer, a screw driver, a cutting knife and a nail remover all in one.

The down side is it is a little heavy but it is definitely lighter than any tool box! You can pretty muck tell what it does from the picture (except that black stripe down the handle pulls out to become a cutting knife!). The black ring at the bottom controls the direction of the ratchet in the screw driver. The screw driver bit is held in tight by a strong magnet.

Overall, this is a nifty little tool to have around. It does a lot without taking up a lot of space!

I like this tool, so why not 5 stars? Well, two reasons: 1.) Extra screwdriver bits are stored in a compartment on the side of the tool. You remove the compartment to get to the bits, and then replace it. But it doesn't snap back into place very well, and it can make it uncomfortable to hold the neck of the tool because of the poor fit at this point, and 2.) There is no handy way to store the extension for the driver. It's only a matter of time before it gets lost.

Other than that, this is a handy tool to keep in your car or your junk drawer for quick repairs and maintenance.

I assembled a bunch of Ikea furniture with this. It's really comprehensive - things like the rubber mallet round this out as more than just an all-in-1 screwdriver with just a bit extra. It really is a complete set for small jobs. I'm very happy with it.
