Still great after 45+ years!,

This review is from: Crescent City - The Music of New Orleans (Audio CD)
I purchased the original "LP" of this album in the late 1950's while attending high school or LSU. The original vinyl recording's cover jacket has a picture of New Orleans from the air at late afternoon and shows the single span of the Greater New Orleans Bridge under construction (the now existing second span had not been dreamed of yet). Being born in New Orleans and having lived here all of my life, these songs are still haunting and authentic representations of the New Orleans I grew up and lived with. It was then, and is still now, a classic work of smooth sounds and easy listening music.I am so pleased to find it available on CD. I will purchase several immediately for myself and friends.

Stirring, Grand, Emotional,

I first heard this album when I was a child. It was played by my mother perhaps 35 years ago. I recalled the haunting sounds of this album. Years later I began searching for it and until about a year ago, couldn't seem to get a copy even though it was supposed to be available. Then one day I found it and wow did it take me back in time! The sonics don't match what is done digitally today, but even with this small exception, the grandness I felt when I heard the first notes of the album warmed me. I highly suggest that the first time you listen that it be through the whole thing. It really is a story of New Orleans. It is sort of like arriving in the city on wings of an eagle and landing in the middle of the culture, weaving through what makes New Orleans the romantic image that it is. Quite an experience!

I have been searching for this album for many years. Themes from it have been haunting me, but I didn't know it was still available.
