This tool does cut well, but not as well as I thought it would. This side cutters does cut wire fairly easy but is still inferior to the Greenlee Side cutters, in terms of ease of use. The spring is a nice feature but if you don't close it each time it is hard to get back in your plier pocket on your tool pouch. I may have been expecting a little much since it says "compound Leverage".

I had the same experience as Magown - the pliers lasted 20 minutes. After cutting some hardcore copper bundles I went for some pieces of sheet steel and the joint broke. In retrospect I should have used tin snips since they have compound action as well but when they get bound up they just stop cutting where this pair of pliers will snap apart. Great idea but bad design. Also I was not surprised to find made-in-china on the package - I have never broken any of my US-made Channellock pliers.

I cut 4 hose clamps with these as soon as I got them. On the 4th one half of one of the sides broke off. I guess the compounding action generates more pressure then cutters can handle.

I replaced them with a pair of german made Knipex "mini bolt cutters". They are true 5 star cutters.

I have the dual needle-nose/cutting pliers from these guys and I thought the design was outstanding. Naturally, these were the ones I bought when I needed a new pair of side-cutters. They're spring-loaded but you can lock them "closed" quite easily with your thumb. They're comfortable to hold and the compound action really does work. They can cut through T-1 wire (24 twisted pairs of copper wire) like its none of your business. I highly recommend them, these guys nailed it.
