Presentation:
The game has a console quality setup with its menus and character creator. It looks like something Bethesda created, and that's a good thing. The menus will take some getting used to, but soon you will know where everything is.

One issue I have is that your inventory is not broken up enough. The only categories are weapons, armor, and the "everything else" section named other. The other category becomes a little overwhelming, as your magic, food, potions, skins/items looted from enemies, etc. are all mashed into one area. It's not too bad, but after 6 or 7 hours with the game you will wish they added a potion and rune(magic) category to your inventory.

The cut scenes are voice acted, but most of the characters you interact with only have one line of recorded dialogue and then all text. This is probably how Crescent Moon was able to keep the game to 551mb when Gameloft titles are coming in around 2gigs. For what it's worth, I was able to download and start playing Shadolwands in less than 10 minutes.

The story is pretty traditional. You miraculously survived a war, and are told by the Archmage that you have descended from kings and it is your destiny to retrieve the Ravensword to seal away the dark demons trying to come from the Shadowlands. It's serviceable and kicks off your quest quickly. Quests are given by NPCs, so while there is the main mission always there, side missions like winning an archery tournament or collecting missing iron ingots for a black smith are plentiful, though not so much so that you fell lost amongst too many quests.

Graphics:
There is no doubt the game is visually impressive. This is one of the first times I can recall actually stopping to marvel at some of the landscapes in a mobile game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sure was fun........while it lasted. March 25, 2013

It works perfectly on my kindle fire HD. The game has the usual glitch factor of free roaming rpgs, but is so beautiful to play that you hardly notice. The story and game are short but sweet, I played through twice this weekend and had a ball!
Aralon is quite a bit deeper with better, and more thought out game mechanics / personality, but the graphics and detail are better on Ravensword. 10 hours to finnish Ravensword, 20hours for Aralon. If you like Oblivion, or Skyrim, you can't help but like these two. These developers are truly getting close to"Skyrim" on a tablet....here's hoping they pull out all the stops and go for it!

So, I, like many other people had trouble installing this great game. Luckily there's a fairly simple solution. Let the game download completely, and if it hangs up or fails on install, just close the app store, and go into your file browser (my files, astro, whatnot) and open the android folder, then the data folder, then locate the folder named com.amazon.venezia. Open the files folder, then the apk folder, and the game install file will be in there. Unfortunately the file names seem to be jibberish, so if you haven't recently cleared the cache, you may have to try a few files to find the right one, but when you locate the app, it shouldn't have any problems installing.

Once installed, the game itself runs great on my Tab 2 7.0. I hope this info helps some of the others who've had trouble with the install.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's the perfect rpg for a mobile device November 24, 2013
Verified Purchase
This is one of the best rpgs I have ever played on a mobile device! It has a the choice of third and 1st person view, the shops have awesome equipment, the fighting is outstanding compared to most rpgs and the enemy's are actually challenging. Also the skill tree is pretty cool.

Flaw fixes:
The screen positioning Is reversed for kindle fire, but can easily be fixed just by laying it flat. The enemy's might be overly challenging for some people, but there is a difficulty bar in the options menu if you want to fix that; or you could just level up your character until it's easier. There is hunger in the game, but food is very easy to get all you need to do is buy it at a shop or kill creatures and search them. If your game glitches out or won't past a certain point just delete a bunch of unwanted apps and it'll play just fine.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect June 27, 2014

The game was visually amazing, at least for a mobile game. The controls were easy enough (though it lagged), and the added sensitivity option was really helpful. And you could customize everything and anything... except your gender. I feel like if you're going to make such an in-depth, customizable game, you might as well add a gender option, in the off chance that MAYBE a female would want to play a video game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great game for Kindle Fire HD May 18, 2013

I love role playing games and I am now playing Skyrim on my PS3. Ravensword is a good portable for Skyrim type games when I'm away from my console. I've just started getting into the game and it plays well on my Kindle fire HD. The graphic are very good and the touch screen controls are very easy to get use to. I would recommend this game for any one who loves role playing games and want a portable substitute for games such as Skyrim.

My six-year old son loves this game. It is the only game other than MineCraft that keeps him totally engaged. It's even helped with his reading since he wants to keep up with the story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Impressive
This is an amazing game to be on Kindle. The graphics and story line are excellent. The only thing that would make it better is randomize the locations and randomize the loot.

App not installed
I saws somewhere to unmount your SD card and try again. I had the same problem, but tried this and it fixed it... I can't tell you why but I had no problem installing afterwards. I mounted my SD card again when it was mounted and no issues whatsoever.

This been fixed yet or not?
I depends on your device. I could get it to work (with only a few minor bugs) on my Kindle Fire HDX. However, it does not have any way to exit out of the app, which is very annoying. The game is challenging and passable, but I wouldn't pay $7 for it.
