There are colored pencils and then there are Cretacolor Woodless Watercolor Pencils. They are solid color: to gain a finer point you simply rub the tip at an angle across paper. The color, weight, and silky smoothness must be experienced to be believed. I am all about amortization; if you calculate how many sets of lesser pencils you would have to buy to get the same length of use as these Cretacolor pencils, you'd see the economy of going for the gusto. No worries about trashing a fine point while sharpening. These pencils will last you a *very* long time. I have given several sets of these pencils as much-appreciated gifts.

Cretacolor's Aqua Monolith Pencils are really the best colored pencils I've ever used- great for creating the most vibrant colors but also blending softer tones. I definitely recommend this product-you're paying for quality.

The product was a gift, so I dont know about the quality of the pencils, but the company was amazing. They arrived way sooner than I had expected and were packaged very well.
