I love the spatulas AND the crock. At first I was wary, I didn't think they would be heatproof. These babies are great to 800 fahrenheit. You can take off the spatula part and throw it in the dishwasher so the wooden handle doesn't need to get washed. Purely amazing.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great spatulas, splintery handles
I love the crock and the red spatulas--they are very nice and are holding up well, BUT I must say that the handles are really cheap. The wood is splintery and one of the handles was even warped. I was very surprised that they wouldn't use better quality to finish the product. I handwash them, too--they just were like that from day one.

I love the spatulas AND the crock. At first I was wary, I didn't think they would be heatproof. These babies are great to 800 fahrenheit. You can take off the spatula part and throw it in the dishwasher so the wooden handle doesn't need to get washed. Purely amazing.

The variety of spatulas is nice. I like the fact that they give you a slotted one. The spatula-part is dense - its not overly flexible - just flexible enough where you need it. I don't think I've ever seen a more perfect spatula.

The crock has a balanced center of mass. It doesn't tip over easy. Very nice. Color (I have the red ones) is a beautiful red. It goes great in my black & white & maple kitchen.

Worth every penny. I use them daily.

4.0 out of 5 stars I use these every day of the week., December 12, 2002
This review is from: Le Creuset 7-Piece Spatula Set with Crock, Red
I purchased these along with a Le Crueset pot from Amazon. I never imagined though, that these would see daily use and the pot would only be used once in a while!

First off, their heatproof nature makes them superior than just about any pot-stirrer I've tried - wooden spoons don't let you scrape down the sides of a pot the way these spatulas let you. I've made perfect roux, and great gravy with these. Scrambled eggs, stir frying in a hot wok - these spatulas are true kitchen workhorses.

They're easy to clean - even when I made candy with them, the hardened sugar slid off the plastic with ease. (I wish the same could have been said for the pot I made it in.)

There are a few downsides. I'd say "virtually indestructible" is not an accurate description. Sure, they're heatproof - I think it'd take a blowtorch to melt these. However, they can easily be nicked. Be careful if you're using these to scoop out the contents of a blender, for example - the blade can too easily gouge out a piece of the silicon. This is not a fatal thing, though, and the spatula is still excellent despite its wound.

I've found the removable handle to be a mixed blessing. Make sure the spatula is firmly assembled before stirring anything thick - I've had them come apart a couple of times when I was rushing to get something done, and the tip went for a whirl in the KitchenAid mixer. However, if you have the rubber piece firmly on to begin with, this is not an issue.

The crock itself is beautiful - I love having all of my commonly used tools displayed near my work area. This crock is big enough to hold the spatulas and a few other key items. (I keep my Microplane grater, a ball whisk, and a few other things in mine along with the spatulas.) The red is a joyful, energetic color - but also very loud. The color swatch on Amazon only hints at how powerful a red color this is.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing! No more melted spatulas in your kitchen, March 16, 2003
This review is from: Le Creuset 7-Piece Spatula Set with Crock, Red
I have a habit of using spatulas kind of like spoons when I am cooking. I leave them on the edge of the pan, stir, scrape, leave the kitchen, stir, scrape, you get the idea. Not only do these spatulas supremely scrape every last morsel out of your pan, bowl, whatever, they can be heated up to 800 degrees (or 1000 degrees for the newest ones- personally 800 degrees was just fine with me), so they are virtually indestructible - you would have to sit up nights thinking about ways to destroy them, they are that solid. I find that I use the little one the most - not the tiniest, which is good for scraping small things, but the next smallest, which I have found to be the most versatile. Mine met its end only because I accidentally threw it away with vegetable peelings - it has since been replaced. I also like the spoon spatula a lot since you really can use it like a spoon, it is sort of a spoon/spatula - the best of both. And, as I mentioned before, if you cook with nonstick pans and don't want to scratch them up, these spatulas make great stirrers - and they won't melt! A good investment in your kitchen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Greatest Cooking Utensils Made!, December 13, 2002

Was that ecstatic enough for you? I LOVE these spatulas. I have 2 sets: 1 green and 1 red, because I keep kosher in my home.

I originally bought two of these several years ago at a home show, and have been unable to find more until I ran across them here at Amazon.com. These are the best silicone spatulas made - they have the highest degree of heat-resistance (a couple of them up to 800 degrees!) over the [other] brands out there.

Absolutely nothing sticks to them, they won't burn or melt (remember, when you have those rough, melted edges on your cooking utensils, YOU'RE EATING THAT STUFF!!!). I know they tell you to remove the heads to put them in the dishwasher, but frankly, I'm too lazy for that and always throw the whole things in. I've never had a problem with the heads or the wooden handles.

The crocks are great, too. Nice and heavy so they stay put, and I've managed to put whisks, wooden spoons, nylon spoons, and 2 spiders into mine, ALONG WITH the spatulas!

Really excellent product!

***Here we are, one year later, and you know what? These are still the most-used cooking utensils in my kitchen, for both cooking and baking. And I still throw them in the dishwasher, wooden handles and all - no stains, no splinters. I'm still delighted to give this product my highest recommendation, and I'm about to purchase 2 more sets as holiday gifts!***

5.0 out of 5 stars No kitchen should be without these, November 30, 2001

These are so handy, and durable. This set is also much cheaper than what is sold at Williams Sonoma, not to mention these are better made, and much more attractive. This high heat durable plastic has been around for awhile, although most of us haven't had much exposure to this. These utensils really take the heat well, and serve you with a variety of uses. I always welcome a chance to clean out the cluttered kitchen drawer I have. One of the biggest selling points of this set is that the ends are removable, so you aren't putting the wooden handles in the dish washer. Wooden anything does not hold up well in the dishwasher, and these won't because you will be using these from now on. These have been one of my favorite utensils for awhile now as you can use them with anything.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Spatulas EVER and Beautiful, Too!, March 30, 2006

I received a gift card to a local highly-overpriced home chef's store. I chose a large Le Creuset "spoonula" in bland white, because that is the only color they had.

I used the "spoonula" that very same night and completely fell in love with it! Sturdy yet flexible, this fine instrument scraped clean all the luscious bits of parmesan and cream in my recipe. I knew I HAD to have more Le Creuset spatulas!

I searched on Amazon and found the equally luscious flame red Le Creuset crock full of fire-engine red spatulas at an excellent price. After all, "You COOK first with your eyes."

And so, my beautiful new crock with its floral arrangement of spatulas snuggles romantically with the flame red Le Creuset pot that came before.

And they all lived--AND COOKED--happily ever after. SIGH.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best spatulas I've ever used, October 1, 2003
By A Customer
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Le Creuset 7-Piece Spatula Set with Crock, Red
This is my first review, usually I read them but have never written one. I got my spatula set about 2 months ago and love it. I've even left it in the pan while I was browning ground beef and not the slightest mark to indicate so. I remember cooking with spatulas and the more I cooked with them the smaller and more bent up they got till I threw them out. Well, no more, I truly believe this will be the last set I will need to buy. The spatulas are made of quality material, I may not have tested them at the claimed 800 degrees but I have used them cooking up to 500 degrees and not a mark on them.

I would have given them 5 stars but I think the handle could be improved. The heads are great but the handles are just thin wood. I don't have fear of them breaking but I think it makes them look cheap.

Update: It's now 12/2009 and I still use these for my everyday cooking. 6 yrs later and they are still as good as new.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exquisite, March 27, 2003
This review is from: Le Creuset 7-Piece Spatula Set with Crock, Red
This is the perfect functional and beautiful item to set on your kitchen counter. You can add a splash of color and have some very high quality kitchen utensils. The crock seems heavy enough to bake in. You can actually chill it and use it to keep foods cold while serving. The spatulas hold up well to heat and I've had no problems leaving them accross a hot pan.

Buy this one set and it should last a lifetime so choose your color carefully!

5.0 out of 5 stars Rock and Rule, June 5, 2002

This review is from: Le Creuset 7-Piece Spatula Set with Crock, Red
The crock may rock, but the spatulas rule! The crock is nice and heavy; my old crock would occassionally tip and spill when I reached for something quickly. I LOVE the spatulas. They have proved up to any task I have done so far, from stir frying over high heat to scraping cake batter from a bowl. In addition to all the features mentioned by previous reviewers I think the best thing is that I have not yet found a substance that will stick to them - no more beating the implement against the side of a pan.
