Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Poach chickens, simmer stocks, cook pasta, or prepare a vegetable soup or classic chili in this tall, narrow, 8-quart stockpot with a tight-fitting lid. Made of heavy-gauge steel and double-coated with hard, bright enamel, the stockpot coordinates with Le Creuset's famed enameled cast-iron cookware in the French manufacturer's handsome colors, and it's as at home in the dining room as a serving vessel as it is in the kitchen on the stovetop or in the oven. The lid has a plastic knob that is oven-safe to 450 degrees F. Fitted with a steel rim to prevent chipping, the pot is durable enough to outlive its 101-year warranty against defects and goes safely into the dishwasher and refrigerator. The stockpot measures 9-3/4 by 11-1/2 by 10 inches. --Fred Brack

This review is from: Le Creuset Enamel-on-Steel 8-Quart Covered Stockpot, Chestnut (Kitchen)
Le Creuset enjoys a well deserved good reputation for their enamel on cast iron dutch ovens, but unfortunately, that reputation probably should not extend to their enamel on steel stock pots.
I've been using an enamel on steel dutch oven/stockpot manufactured by another company for at least 20 years, and I like it because it's not as heavy as a cast iron dutch oven. I've been searching for a replacement, because I've used my old one so much, the enamel is starting to come off of the bottom of the pot on the inside. However, that company seems to be no longer in business, and I can't find another one that has a similar shape and capacity, so I thought I'd try the Le Creuset stockpot. The quality, on initial inspection, seemed very good. There is a thin stainless steel on the rim of the stockpot, and also on the lid, just like my old dutch oven/stockpot has. However, when you simmer anything in the Le Creuset stockpot with the lid on, water collects under the steel rim of the pot and drips down the outside of the pot. This does not happen with the old pot. I thought that might just be a problem with the particular Le Creuset stockpot I got, so I returned it and ordered a replacement. Unfortunately, the replacement had the same problem. I'd be willing to give Le Creuset another try if they address this issue in the future.
