Looks nice but flaws in design,

This review is from: Le Creuset Enamel-on-Steel Zen 1-2/3-Quart Teakettle, Cobalt (Kitchen)
I read the reviews and have to say that the negative comments are correct. The whistle is very faint and you have to really listen for it. Another serious flaw is that it drips as you are pouring the water out, necessitating me to pour over the sink. Otherwise, I have a little bit of a water mess to clean up. I've tried reducing the amount of water in the tea pot but it does the same thing. On the up side, it does look very elegant on my stove and has a very modern design. But for the price and the reputation of the company, I would have expected a more functional product.

Whistling (?) Tea Kettle,

This review is from: Le Creuset Enamel-on-Steel Zen 1-2/3-Quart Teakettle, Cobalt (Kitchen)
This producut arrived promptly from Amazon and was well-packaged. I love the cobalt blue color and the shape. It heats water quickly and pours without any splashing or spurting. However, the whistle is almost useless. It make a 'small'' sound that can't be heard in the next room. Fortunately, I don't need it to do so. And, the handle gets warm enough that I use a pot holder. The last Le Creuset kettle I had rusted inside, and the enamel around the spout and lid did the same. So, at the end of the day I now wipe it dry in and out. I now have the time for this, but others may not.

Beautiful Design,
This review is from: Le Creuset Zen Enamel-on-Steel 1-2/3-Quart Kettle, Cherry Red (Kitchen)
A few years ago while watching a Friends show I noticed a teakettle on the stove and thought it might be interesting to own a red teakettle after years of making tea in my coffee maker. The result is a more pleasant and comforting tea experience. Not only do you drink the tea sooner, it tastes much better when the water is at a full boil. The whistle on this teakettle is amusing and you may have to adjust the temperature to get just the right whistle. Boiling the water too slowly produces a funny "who is that whistling" in my kitchen experience. At full boil, it gets your attention, but is never irritating. If you are really careful, you can remove the whistle and pour the water out immediately, but waiting a few seconds is probably advised. The handle is very sturdy, unlike other teakettles that swing about as if you were not about to pour boiling water. This one feels very safe and the lid also fits very securely so there is no steam escaping out of the top and the handle never gets warm. The color is a deeper dark cherry at the base and then it slowly changes to a beautiful cherry red at the top. A truly beautiful addition to your kitchen if you want to spice up your stovetop. This is an item you will want to leave out on the burners even when not in use. ~The Rebecca Review

The Most Beautiful Tea kettle,
This review is from: Le Creuset Zen Enamel-on-Steel 1-2/3-Quart Kettle, Cherry Red (Kitchen)
This is truly an amazing kettle. It pours perfectly, Boils quickly, has a nice loud whistle, and is the most beautifully made kettle on the market. Dont let a couple of bad reviews turn you away from this amazing kettle, Those people are crazy! I love my tea kettle. Also It dosnt chip easily at all! I have knocked it on the stove very hard a couple of times and not one chip! I use this kettle for tea and to boil my daughters bottle water and it works wonderfully with no rust! I even leave the water in the kettle overnight!! MUST BUY! GREAT BUY!

Just received it so I can't attest to its longevity, however my first impressions are -- expensive but worth it. Solid construction. Easy to fill with a cap that comes off easily yet snaps snugly into place to close. The handle folds down to allow under-faucet loading, but kept in the upright position while boiling it is made of non-metal material that doesn't get too hot to handle. It boils water quickly. The whistle is loud, much louder than my previous Kitchen Aid, loud enough to hear in the far rooms of the house (and I have hearing loss), and it folds back to a fixed position if you prefer boiling water without the whistle. The opening is wide enough to put your hand all the way in for a thorough cleaning if it ever need it. The bottom is sufficently wide to cover the gas flame completely, so the flames don't come up over the sides even at full open flame. My only complaint, a minor one, is that it came with the scan sticker and a "made in Thailand" sticker firmly stuck on the bottom. I didn't want to use the kettle before removing them, which wasn't easy --- the trick is to use Windex and a tuffy scrubber -- comes right off. But how dumb is it to put a paper sticker very hard to remove on the bottom of something going on the stove? Aside from that, a very intelligent design.

My Tea Drinking Daughter Loves It!,

I am a coffee drinker but my adult daughter is a tea drinker. I purchased a beautiful ceramic tea kettle but was told it took way too long to boil water, and didn't make any noise to indicate the water was ready. So my daughter gave me lots of criteria for purchasing just the right tea kettle. After an exhaustive search, this met all the criteria she required and it was attractive enough for me. Now that she has used it, she has given it a perfect rating. Who am I to question that!

I purchased this after reading many reviews. I agree with all the favorable reviews: it is very beautiful as well as functional. The whistle works and the spout pours well. The lid fits so tightly that it is a little difficult to open and close, so I leave it closed and fill it through the spout. Pricey but worth it.

Kettle is lovely - the whistle is not very loud, so don't go far if you tend to forget you've put the kettle on.

My boyfriend bought me this tea kettle for Christmas. I LOVED it - great shape and color. But only a month into having it, Boyfriend tapped it slightly with another pan that was on the stove and now it has a huge chip in it. I don't think I can return it to Amazon as we have used it, but I'm really disappointed that it's damaged already. I have other enamel cookware and none of those chipped so quickly.
