Creuset Casseroles are the Best,
By
This review is from: Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 3-1/2-Quart Round French Oven, Red (Kitchen)
The single best pots for doing rich chicken dishes and the like. Conducts heat perfectly, well-balanced and very easly to clean. So many great meals have emerged from these pots that I tend to cook more frequently, especially the more slow-cooking or complex dishes. I inheirited one of these pots and then bought another. Since then I have excused all similar imitations from the kitchen. If I had to equipt my kitchen with 3 cooking pots/pans, this would come right after the skillet and sauce pan.

Use It Constantly,

This review is from: Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 3-1/2-Quart Round French Oven, Caribbean (Kitchen)
I received this as part of a set from my husband, who knew I'd been drooling over the Le Creuset lineup for years now. If you're like me and can't visualize 3 1/2 quarts, the pot is about 8 1/2" in diameter and just under 4" deep. I use this all the time and couldn't be happier - food cooks evenly and stays plenty hot enough for second helpings, and it all cleans up with soap and water. The handles on the sides do get hot so be careful with those. The color on mine is a little brighter than I'd expected but the gradation is really pretty. Overall, this is a fantastic piece that should last approximately forever and I love it.

Le Creuset cookware,

I have loved the two pieces of LeCreuset that I ordered. I have a glass cooktop (which I curse!) and cookware has to be absolutely flat for good heat transfer. Through the years I have tried various brands (Calphalon, Farberware, etc) and Le Creuset is the best I have ever used. The lid seals tightly, making for an energy efficient design. It has been easy to clean as well and looks great! I purchased my first piece in order to bake my favorite no-knead bread recipe: it requires a covered pot to bake it at 450 degrees, and few cookware brands have handles that can withstand that high a temperature. Le Creuset does, and has performed beautifully. It is also great for braising and stewing. Follow directions and do not use the highest heat setting, it is uneccessary and can damage the pot.

This French Oven is just the right size for the two of us. I can fill it halfway for a typical meal, or make a double recipe in order to freeze some for another time. It browns things well, goes easily from stove-top to oven, holds the heat in during long simmering, cleans up quickly with a little soak in warm water, and looks great. I have owned some other products from Le Creuset, and they never disappoint.

I wish we had ordered a larger size, but this great pot is just right for doing Julia Childs' recipe for beef bourginone. If you make lots of soups and stews as we do, go up at least one size. Beautifully constructed and good looking. It may sound expensive but this is a lifetime pot.

Forget the price, I know it's expensive, and it's something you don't have to have. Who cares! It's Le Creuset! It's an amazing pot, the only pot I own that I can cook rice in successfully. I think it's amazing that it can go from stovetop to oven to freezer, and it's also dishwasher safe. It makes life so much more easier. The only thing I regret is I wish I would have picked out a larger pot for our family of four. However, I would not trade this pot for anything now. It looks wonderful on the stovetop and it's great to warm up any leftovers that we do have, as I tend to cook in bulk. Did I mention how nice it looks on your stovetop?

Le Creuset is worth it!,

I've wanted Le Creuset for 20 years, but could not see spending that much money on a cook pot. Finally, I bought this. I cook a lot of thrifty meals (beans, braising, roasting, soups, stews, chili, and so forth). Everything comes out beautifully, no burned spots, I use lower heat, less liquid, and less time to get even better results than before in my stainless steel pots.
Yes, it's heavy, and yes, you have to hand wash it after use. But like good knives, it's worth the extra trouble and expense for an excellent tool. Would I replace all my cookware with Le Creuset? Absolutely not. For some tasks, I wish I had done it years ago. Since I'm cooking for two these days, this pot is just the right size.

i have not ever had a problem with any le creuset pieces. they do EVERYTHING better! i saute vegetables and brown the meat on the stovetop then add rest of ingredients and move the french oven to bake in a slow [275] oven for several hours. great for meat dishes! this was my first piece in the dune color and it mixed great with my flame and kiwi pieces.

Love Le Creuset pots. We own several. Nothing like it for beans, stews, brown rice and baking in the oven. They are quite pricey but hold up for decades if properly cared for. Hear there are knock-offs from Rachel Ray and Martha Stewart. Much less eapensive but haven't tried any.
