My other kitchen workhorse,
By
This review is from: Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 2-Quart Round French Oven, Flame (Kitchen)
I got my first Le Creuset cookware in 1978. It was my college graduation week, & I was relaxing on the lawn reading the Sunday Boston Globe. I saw an ad for a Le Creuset starter set (French oven + 2 covered saucepans + skillet) for a very low price, so I decided to go for it since I was about to be out of the dorm living on my own. That purchase turned out to be one of my best investments ever, as I still use all the pieces today. I now have 3 French ovens, 5 covered saucepans, 3 skillets, 1 oval au gratin, 1 multi 2-in-1 pan with nonstick omelette cover, 1 rectangular baking pan, & 1 cheese fondue set, all in flame. These cast iron utensils are virtually indestructible, except for a few minor dings in the outer enamel. They cook very evenly, given the cast iron, making me a possibly better than average cook (they're one of my unfair advantages). My only problem with the cookware is the heavy weight, but that comes with the territory with cast iron utensils. I guess I'll have to get someone else to lift the pots when I'm old & decrepit. I know they'll outlive me!The 2 qt French oven is the other workhorse of my kitchen, in addition to the 4-1/2 qt French oven. Most often, I am making pasta sauce in the smaller French oven while boiling pasta in the larger one. In addition, I use the 2 qt French oven to make smaller batches of soups, gumbo, or stew for when it's just my wife and me for dinner. I use it on top of the stove & in the oven. And then it goes to the table for serving, given its attractiveness. Don't be put off by the high price of Le Creuset pots & pans. In the long run, they're a bargain because of their long life. I intend to pass mine down to my sons. Bon appetit!

Homemakers Secret for Success,
By A Customer
This review is from: Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 2-Quart Round French Oven, Red (Kitchen)
This pot is just wonderful! My husband claims everytime I use Le Creuset the meals just come out perfect so, as you can imagine I'm using them everyday now. I am a "Happy Homemaker" and I take the job of creating tasty meals to heart even though I am only cooking for two (my husband and myself). If you love anyone get this pot for them, if you enjoy cooking get this pot for yourself! I also have the 5 1/2 French oven and the 2 3/4 oven as well and all of them are used daily... they can take on fried chicken or a delicate wine sauce and still look perfect when the job is done not to mention serving up the meal... Just beautiful sitting on the table! And clean up? FORGET ABOUT IT! Cleans like a dream come true, you won't believe until you do it yourself. Makes me want to cook right now... maybe I will. For your sake don't waste time and money on the "cheap stuff" pay a decent price now and have it for life.

I got this thing specifically to do rice, and it has been incredible. You can always find a 'deal' on something else but the Le Creuset line is incredible.

Lid fits tighter than Staub oven,

I first bought a Staub 2-qt oven to make one pot meals. The lid has three raised bumps around the lip of the lid. Too much steam escapes and the upper layer of vegetables dried out. This Le Creuset lid sits perfectly flat and less moisture escapes. A very good product for my application.

We ventured hesitantly into the world of high-end cookware, but we were not disappointed. This product gets near daily use in our home, and we've had it now for almost two years. It looks like it arrived yesterday. Great quality, fantastic workmanship, and beautiful to boot. It's a combination that's hard to beat. We're very satisfied with this pot - the only downside is that now I'm compelled to buy more!*** January 2010 Update *** Now it's been almost 5 years since we bought this product. We can't recommend it highly enough. I have noticed some minor brown scarring on the bottom of the inside enamel, but it in no way affects performance and frankly, I rather think it gives it character. We've since added the 5 1/2 quart version (same color) because we so often wanted to use the 2 quart but it wasn't quite big enough. Now both get frequent use. I know it seems ridiculous to spend $100 or $200 for a pot, but this is truly something that you will hand down to your kids and which simply makes better tasting food. Love it. *** January 2012 Update *** So in keeping with what has become an every two years practice, I just wanted to update the reader that my feelings regarding this extraordinary product remain entirely unchanged. We actually picked up the 5 1/2 quart saucepan, too, and I'm pleased to say Le Cruset is the BEST.

Everything promised and more,
This review is from: Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 2-Quart Round French Oven, Red (Kitchen)
This dutch oven is perfect when cooking for 1 or 2. The heat is distributed evenly - making the perfect risotto a breeze! I'm glad I held out until I could afford the real thing - the imitations have nothing on Le Creuset!

This French Oven is perfect for cooking soups, stews, etouffe, etc., for small families. If you are cooking a larger dinner, eg., beans, this little oven is great for cooking the rice.

This is just the pot for cooking from Elizabeth Yarnell'c cookbook, Glorious One-Pot Meals. I've used it every day and it works marvelously.

OK, so now you know I love it. Not only is it cute looking (not a top priority, but it helps), but it is easy to clean, and cooks to perfection. It works beautifully for smaller recipes, especially the " Glorious One-Pot Meals" by Elizabeth Yarnell. It is the pot that she uses in all of her 2 serving recipes. Good price and hard size to find in stores - most are sold online.

twenty-five years of hard use,

Twenty-five years of hard use, and eight children later, my Lecrueset cookware is still in excellent condition. Now, I am adding some of those special pieces I could never afford. Amazon is wonderful to work with. Not only did I get a very good "buy", but all was delivered promptly and just in time for Christmas. Families grow and grow...and Lecreuset has a size for everything. Thanks so much. Patricia Welter
