5.0 out of 5 stars You will never regret buying this.....
The price of the Le Creuset French Oven is prohibitive - it always has been. Ten years ago, I exchanged five beautiful but unwanted wedding gifts for this French oven. I feared that it might not be worth it, but my fears were ungrounded. The quality, beauty, and versatility of this product is unsurpassed. 3.0 out of 5 stars Le Creuset French Oven- not so good
I bought this Le Creuset french oven as a gift. Le Creuset usually has fantastic products. However a few months after use, a small crack on the bottom of the french oven appeared. It was never dropped and only hand washed. We are in the process of seeing if we can get a replacement.

You can easily braise a meat on the stove, and then bake it in the oven. You can simmer tomato-based sauces for hours, or slow-cook a stew to perfection. If you have a family and enjoy cooking, you will use this product over and over. After ten years of heavy use, my pot still looks new and I still derive great pleasure in using it. Expensive? Yes, but quality items usually are. You will be so glad you bought this.

5.0 out of 5 stars my favorite oven, November 8, 2007
This review is from: Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 5-1/2-Quart Round French Oven, Cobalt (Kitchen)
last year my mother gave me 3 of her 20 year old le creuset pieces. since then i have been replacing all my cookware with le creuset. this is my favorite size of the ovens. i'm usually cooking for two, but prefer this as my pasta pot. it's GREAT for soup too, and to have when cooking for guests, potlucks or for leftovers. and you can put it right in the fridge after dinner. the clean up on all these pieces is the absolute best. highly recommend! (i was even using it as a larger skillet substitute for a short while!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Le Creuset 5.5 Qt Round Pot, January 12, 2008
This review is from: Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 5-1/2-Quart Round French Oven, Cobalt (Kitchen)
This enameled cast iron cook pot works very well, as expected. Foods such as soups, stews, braised meats, etc are all cooked much better than would happen in just an All-Clad pan or pot.

Very pleased with the purchase, the performance, the quality and the utility of this item.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wow... Awesome... But when are you going to get rid of Phenolic handles?, August 28, 2010
This review is from: Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 5-1/2-Quart Round French Oven, Cobalt (Kitchen)
Thinner and more temperature-responsive than most ironware, with a very forgiving enamel interior, I have only a little more to say than that I love my 5 1/2 qt. Dutch... Oh, please excuse me, FRENCH oven. Even after turning up the wrong burner with a batch of Channa Masala in the pot, and burning half my tomatoes to the bottom of the pan, cleanup was a snap, and there was no damage to the enamel! My only complaints join legions of others... First, the phenolic handle. Really, Le Creuset, WHY?!?!? And if it's really inert, high-acid dishes shouldn't stain the interior so easily. I have a couple Chantal pots, and NOTHING colors those interiors short of horrible damage to the seal of the glaze. I've been assured this coloration is normal, and healthy, and not a problem, but it still bugs the heck out of me. Yet, food keeps turning out perfect. If there are any negative developments, I will be sure to let all know! I have several pieces of this very special cookware, and have yet to find anything but the above to complain about. Viva la Le Creuset!!!

This dutch oven is worth the money. That's my honest opinion. My wife was skeptical at first but let me purchase this oven. I have had it nearly a month. In the last 30 days I have used it for over a dozen different dishes from stew, pot roast, to shepherds pie. The oven has changed my culinary experience for the better.

We got a brown enameled Le Creuset French Oven for a wedding present, and still use it after 30 years, although it is discolored inside and a bit battered. Now I got a new blue one, slightly larger, and it is going to make lovely soups, stews, and braised roasts and chickens for the next 30 years too. Only cast iron lasts.
