Amazon.com Product Description

Whether frying eggs or baking individual tarts or apple crisp, the smaller capacity of this enameled cast-iron skillet makes it easy to prepare a variety of classic foods on the stovetop or in the oven. The compact unit measures 6-1/4 inches in diameter by 1-1/2 inches tall and comes with two nondrip spouts--one on each side to accommodate left- and right-handed pouring. Use the skillet for anything from searing and sauteing to tenderizing, frying, and deglazing--its shallow base and gently sloping sides create rapid evaporation and make it simple to turn food or slide it from the pan to a plate.

Made of heavy-duty cast iron, the cookware's exterior features a colorful, long-lasting enamel that resists chipping and cracking, while its interior provides a durable, black enamel finish (no seasoning required) to seal in juices for succulent, tender results. As cast iron is unexcelled for even heat distribution and superior heat retention, and enamel is impervious to acids and odors, the skillet cooks food uniformly and gently without hot spots and can be used for marinating, cooking on the stovetop, or finishing in the oven. The skillet also provides a sturdy, integrated iron handle with an opposite helper handle for secure transport, and it can be safely used at any oven temperature, under the broiler, and on any stovetop, including induction. Beautiful enough for the table yet durable enough to outlive its lifetime limited warranty, the skillet should be hand washed for best results.

Product Description

This cast iron skillet is superior to other cookware because it absorbs and retains heat more efficiently as it gently cooks your omelettes, vegetables or seafood. The pierced handle allows you to hang the pan on a pot rack. About Le Creuset...Since 1925, artisans have been crafting Le Creuset cookware in the French village of Fresnoy Le Grand. Each piece of Le Creuset cast iron cookware is handcast, polished, double enamel-coated and then fired, resulting in some of the finest quality cookware available. Cast iron is one of the best materials for distributing heat gently and thoroughly and is ideal for induction ranges. The strong enamel coating will not absorb odors or flavors, and is easy to clean. Heavy lids securely seal in moisture and flavor. Le Creuset cookware comes in a variety of sizes, colors and styles to match any kitchen and cooking preference. So lasting, you'll pass it on to the next generation of promising cooks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Excellent Product from Le Creuset!, August 30, 2009
I have purchased quite a few products from both Le Creuset and Lodge and this one definitely serves a purpose. I came from a large family and was used to cooking in very large quantities so at one time I probably would have assumed this skillet had no place in a decent kitchen. How wrong I would have been. As already stated by others, it's perfect for sauteing garlic, onion, butter, small amounts of vegetables, or for cooking individual personal omelettes or one or two eggs. It's easy to use and very easy to clean. Heat is distributed evenly so food cooks well regardless of where it is in the skillet. One thing I cook regularly is an egg white omelette. It's quick and easy to make, slides out of the pan onto my plate, and once the pan cools, clean up is a breeze.

One reviewer noted that she finds this pan to be stickier than regular cast iron. I was surprised to hear that was someone's experience. I own all different types of cast iron products and the plain cast iron is without a doubt the most time consuming in terms of cleaning and care. Whether I use olive oil or a spray product, I have had no problem with food sticking whatsoever with this product and find that the pan is very easy to use and clean. It looks like new after each usage and I use it quite often. I do hand wash this skillet, not because I'm afraid to put it in the dishwasher, but because it is so easy to clean. I highly recommend this product without hesitation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Little Skillet, November 9, 2009
This skillet is perfection for two eggs or a small omlette.

I would say, however, I use it most offten for sauces and reductions. Normally, it's just my husband and I, so it's nice to make a small amount of these things at a time.

I love how quickly and evenly it heats. These types of pans have taught me to cook with my burners on much lower temperature because they hold heat so well. Le Creuset makes clearly superior quality products and I love using them in my kitchen.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I read tons and tons of reviews. I don't write as many as I should. This pan is a solid well performing pan except for the reason I bought it. I bought it to replace a nonstick skillet I use to cook eggs. I really want to find a safe alternative to the traditional nonstick (toxic at high temps) surface. I love Le Creuset except the eggs stick even using oil and all the other ideas here in the reviews. I hate cleaning it too. I have 2 small children and the time it takes to clean/soak this pan after an egg breakie my 2 year will dismantle the coffee maker. So I will use this pan but not for eggs.
