Another Excellent Product from Le Creuset!,
This review is from: Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 6-1/3-Inch Skillets (Kitchen)
I have purchased quite a few products from both Le Creuset and Lodge and this one definitely serves a purpose. I came from a large family and was used to cooking in very large quantities so at one time I probably would have assumed this skillet had no place in a decent kitchen. How wrong I would have been. As already stated by others, it's perfect for sauteing garlic, onion, butter, small amounts of vegetables, or for cooking individual personal omelettes or one or two eggs. It's easy to use and very easy to clean. Heat is distributed evenly so food cooks well regardless of where it is in the skillet. One thing I cook regularly is an egg white omelette. It's quick and easy to make, slides out of the pan onto my plate, and once the pan cools, clean up is a breeze. One reviewer noted that she finds this pan to be stickier than regular cast iron. I was surprised to hear that was someone's experience. I own all different types of cast iron products and the plain cast iron is without a doubt the most time consuming in terms of cleaning and care. Whether I use olive oil or a spray product, I have had no problem with food sticking whatsoever with this product and find that the pan is very easy to use and clean. It looks like new after each usage and I use it quite often. I do hand wash this skillet, not because I'm afraid to put it in the dishwasher, but because it is so easy to clean. I highly recommend this product without hesitation.

Awesome Little Skillet,

This review is from: Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 6-1/3-Inch Skillets (Kitchen)
This skillet is perfection for two eggs or a small omlette.I would say, however, I use it most offten for sauces and reductions. Normally, it's just my husband and I, so it's nice to make a small amount of these things at a time. I love how quickly and evenly it heats. These types of pans have taught me to cook with my burners on much lower temperature because they hold heat so well. Le Creuset makes clearly superior quality products and I love using them in my kitchen.

I read tons and tons of reviews. I don't write as many as I should. This pan is a solid well performing pan except for the reason I bought it. I bought it to replace a nonstick skillet I use to cook eggs. I really want to find a safe alternative to the traditional nonstick (toxic at high temps) surface. I love Le Creuset except the eggs stick even using oil and all the other ideas here in the reviews. I hate cleaning it too. I have 2 small children and the time it takes to clean/soak this pan after an egg breakie my 2 year will dismantle the coffee maker. So I will use this pan but not for eggs.

I'm pleased with this skillet, which is really more of a saucepan. I'm pleased to report that you can scramble 2 eggs in this skillet. I've used it to melt chocolate too.

Very happy with both of the Le Creuset skillets that I have purchased. If I had the money I would buy an entire set of these pots and pans. The enamel has held strong and looks great, the skillet heats very evenly, and after you get it "seasoned" the pan cleans up very easily. The only negatives to this skillet is the hot handle and the weight. The handle gets pretty hot during cooking so grab a pot holder or buy one of the slip on grips that many companies sell. These are cast iron so they can be pretty heavy which might be an issue for some folks. I would certainly recommend this skillet to anyone who takes pride in their kitchen ware and their cooking.

This skillet is the perfect size for cooking one or two eggs or for sauteing small amounts of veggies (cooking for two.) It cleans up easily in the dishwasher and doesn't take up alot of space.

The coating that Le Creuset applies to all of their black surfaced enameled pans sticks to food as it cooks. I mean really bad sticking to the point that the product requires almost full time attention. You are much better off buying a standard cast iron pan and conditioning it with oil the old fashioned way then buying any of these products. You will also save about 85% on your purchase.Warning this is a very very small pain.....use a ruler before you buy!

I use this skillet every morning for my omelet, and it is beautiful and easy to clean. This was the first Le Creuset product I've purchased, but it will not be the last!

Great for Reheating Leftovers,
By
This review is from: Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 6-1/3-Inch Skillet with Iron Handle, Cherry (Kitchen)
I bought this pan 34 years ago while on my honeymoon. It was marked down, and I'm sure I paid a tiny fraction of its current cost. For many years about the only thing I used it for was to melt butter. During the past couple of years, however, I've realized how great it is for reheating leftovers for one person. I dislike the way certain things turn out when reheated in the microwave, but they're always good when heated in this pan, and it doesn't take much longer. For example, if we have leftover broiled hamburger patties, I'll put one in the little skillet with a couple of tablespoons of water. I cover it and turn the flame to medium, and set the timer for one minute. Then I flip the burger, recover the pan, and heat it for one more minute.... perfectly tasty reheated burger, infinitely superior to the microwaved version. The same procedure works for a number of different foods.

Bought this from Amazon for small items such scrambled eggs for one or two people. I have other Le Creuset items. Nothing stick like this pan! It seems to have a different enamel finish than my other Le Creuset pans. I cook at low heat with olive oil & have successfully used enameled cast iron cookware for a long time. . Spent a long time today trying to clean eggs off this pan. I wish I could get my money back. I will not use it for eggs again. It is also very small. May be good for one burger patty - but NOT eggs.
