5.0 out of 5 stars Solid fondue with class
The Le Creuset pot is great. It can cook cheese, broth and oil fondues equally well. Cheese fondues won't burn since the iron heats more evenly than thin stainless sets. It won't break if dropped like the ceramic bowls. You can start on the stove, unlike the ceramic pots, so you only have one to clean. The set is very heavy which keeps it from accidentally tippping...

The set is very heavy which keeps it from accidentally tippping (a good thing with a pot of boiling oil). The enamel interior cleans easily even with burned -on food. Looks smarter than the cheap sets too. If you're going to make fondue more than once, get a good product.

5.0 out of 5 stars LeGreat!, March 4, 2005

To some the price might seem a little high, but if you are looking for a top quality fondue pot this is the one to buy. The pot itself is heavy and holds and distributes heat very well. I've used many other fondue pots with less than perfect results.

We make a lot of cheese and chocolate fondue and I have never burned either with this pot, even when the fondue has had a flame on it for a couple of hours.

The base is very sturdy and I have no fear of the pot falling off it even when the kids are goofing around trying to get last of the chocolate.

The burner always lights for me (some others I've used have not worked as well). It burns liquid fuel and jel fuel so there is never a problem trying to decide what to buy. Use the liquid when you need a hotter flame (for broths and deep frying), use the jel for a slightly cooler flame (for cheese and chocolate). But, either fuel will work for whatever you are heating.

I like this fondue pot so much I've order a second one. If you really like fondue and want something that will last, this fondue set is worth every penny.

4.0 out of 5 stars great set, March 6, 2002
This review is from: Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 1-3/4-Quart Traditional Fondue Pot, Cherry (Kitchen)
The Le Creuset pot is great. I hardly can't believe that the person who wrote under the alias LeRippoff actually owns one of these sets.
The only thing that dissapointed me is the fact that the burner where the pan is on gets hot which makes it impossible to place the fondueset directly on the table or to pick it up without any precautions. For the rest just compliments for this set: heats evenly, easy to clean, functional on all heat-sources, heavy, looks just right.
Unfortunately these assets do not come for free. Think its quite pricy but worth its money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best fondue pot I've used, December 13, 2004
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I used 6 different styles of fondue pot. This one is definately the best. Because it's made of cast iron, scorching is minimized. Chocolates and cheeses melt wonderfuly. Controlling the heat works better than others I've used.

When I get around to buying a second fondue pot, it will be this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally a fondue pot that works, September 19, 2007

We have had a couple of others before purchasing the Le Creuset. They are OK for oil cooking but not for cheese or deserts. This one is great. The cheese did not burn or the chocolate. Easy clean up as well. Spend the money the first time on this product.

This is an attractive well made product as all Le Creuset products seem to be. It is heavy and the pot fits snuggly in its base which is a plus to prevent tipping. I can see using this fondue pot for many years to come.

I like that I can start the fondue on the stove and transfer it to the base to keep warm. I would like it better if the flame would adjust a bit lower but it may be that I haven't quite figured it out yet. I also like that this product doesn't have a plug which gives me more options as to where it can be used, inside or out

This review is from: Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 1-3/4-Quart Traditional Fondue Pot, Cherry (Kitchen)
I spent some days choosing a fondue set, after my interest in fondue was re-awakened by a visit to a fondue restaurant in Munich. What an agony of choice, mulling over the wide range of sets Amazon has to offer... Anyway, finally the choice was between reasonably good sets, all originally or lately made in China, and the Le Creuset, at some fifty to a hundred dollars more. I've noticed again and again that economizing seems like a good idea at the moment of purchase, while afterwards, being in the presence of something made by cutting corners, choosing second- or third-best materials and exercising poor production skills, gives me a curious sense of depression and missed opportunity. It also means that the people who make an excellent product without compromise are not rewarded for their expertise and courage.

OK, enough philosophizing. I am extremely satisfied with this purchase. The Le Creuset is solid, beautiful, and built to last. The even heat is especially appreciated - no hot spots, and thus, no burning. The base is well-made and weighs enough to give the whole setup an impressive degree of stability. The burner can take liquids, which is very useful; methylated spirits or 90% isopropyl alcohyl both work well, and are easier to buy on the spur of the moment than gels.

Bottom line: if you are looking for a fondue set and can afford the Le Creuset, go for it. You will be getting something you can pass down to your kids, rather than a just-adequate, cutting-corners device that you will be suffering with long after the extra money for the Le Creuset will no longer matter.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, December 28, 2010

This has been a great fondue pot for us. We've only used it for cheese fondue so far, but we've used it a few dozen times by now and it is great. It's very well built, heavy, and made to last. We're considering buying another in the future if we'll be entertaining a lot.

I have an old school model and LOVE it! My 5 yr old requests fondue often. Fondue is great for entertaining. This one I purchased as a gift. Le Creuset is beautiful, well-made cookware. Top-drawer, highest rating! Cheers!

Fantastic. Well made and easy to use. This may cost more than other fondue pots but the cast iron keeps the pot hot and the enabled finish is lovely. I think it's worth the premium price.
