Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Beautiful enough for the table, yet durable enough to outlive its lifetime warranty against defects, this heavy 1-1/4-quart covered saucepan is made of cast iron clad in two coats of Le Creuset's famous hard enamel on the outside and a durable, nonreactive sand-colored layer of enamel on the inside. As cast iron is unexcelled for heat distribution and retention and the crack- and chip-resistant enamel is impervious to acids and odors, the pan cooks food evenly and gently without hot spots and can be used for marinating. It goes safely on any stovetop, including induction. The pan's heavy, tight-fitting lid has a tiny hole for venting steam. Its round, phenolic handle tapers at both ends for comfort and is ovenproof to 400 degrees F and textured for slip-resistance. Opposite the long handle is a helper handle. An anti-drip pouring rim provides added convenience, while a chrome hanging hole at the end of the handle permits storing the pan where its rustic appeal can be appreciated. Like all Le Creuset cast-iron cookware, the pan was made in France using a one-of-a-kind mold that ensures each piece's uniqueness. --Fred Brack

Product Description

The anti-drip pouring lip prevents any dripping of food in undesirable places, and the longer phenolic handle helps with better balance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little saucepan, August 4, 2005
This is a fantastic little saucepan. I use it for steel-cut oatmeal. It can hold a simmer over low heat for 30 minutes with no sticking or burning. All I need to do is stir it every 10 minutes or so. I can also boil water in it very quickly, and the little hole in the lid prevents the condensation from dripping out from under the lid as sometimes happens with other Le Creuset pans. Finally, the handle remains cool enough to use without a pot holder, and has a very nice appearance. Love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little pan, May 19, 2007

For making oatmeal and heating up soup, nothing beats this pan. It's very heavy, heats fast and holds the warmth. You are less likely to burn contents in this pan; also, the vent hole in the lid helps prevent contents, when heated while covered, from boiling over. The manufacturer recommends drying it after washing, rather than allowing it to drip dry, so it won't rust (the rims of the pan and around the bottom of the lid are not enameled). It cleans up easily (I wash it by hand). Very useful addition to my kitchen equipment and it looks great, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cooking is a pleasure......, July 28, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is my second Le Creuset item. I like the fact that I can use lower heat to cook and it seems to spread the heat so evenly. The weight of this particular item makes it sit firm on my electric burner...a bit of safety factor, to me; and it goes through the dishwasher very well.

Amazon offers some Le Creuset items at great prices. I'll be looking for my next piece.
