5.0 out of 5 stars Great little saucepan
This is a fantastic little saucepan. I use it for steel-cut oatmeal. It can hold a simmer over low heat for 30 minutes with no sticking or burning. All I need to do is stir it every 10 minutes or so. I can also boil water in it very quickly, and the little hole in the lid prevents the condensation from dripping out from under the lid as sometimes happens with other Le...

3.0 out of 5 stars It's aight.
I'm not a le creuset fanatic, but the majority of my cookware is theirs because apparently they're the only ones who can do cast iron enameled competently. Sad but true. My oft-most used piece is the 2 in 1 pan aka marmitout that has sadly been discontinued.

This saucepan I got for smaller jobs. I'm a single cook so it works great for grain and beans that I...

This is a fantastic little saucepan. I use it for steel-cut oatmeal. It can hold a simmer over low heat for 30 minutes with no sticking or burning. All I need to do is stir it every 10 minutes or so. I can also boil water in it very quickly, and the little hole in the lid prevents the condensation from dripping out from under the lid as sometimes happens with other Le Creuset pans. Finally, the handle remains cool enough to use without a pot holder, and has a very nice appearance. Love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little pan, May 19, 2007

For making oatmeal and heating up soup, nothing beats this pan. It's very heavy, heats fast and holds the warmth. You are less likely to burn contents in this pan; also, the vent hole in the lid helps prevent contents, when heated while covered, from boiling over. The manufacturer recommends drying it after washing, rather than allowing it to drip dry, so it won't rust (the rims of the pan and around the bottom of the lid are not enameled). It cleans up easily (I wash it by hand). Very useful addition to my kitchen equipment and it looks great, too.

This is my second Le Creuset item. I like the fact that I can use lower heat to cook and it seems to spread the heat so evenly. The weight of this particular item makes it sit firm on my electric burner...a bit of safety factor, to me; and it goes through the dishwasher very well.

Amazon offers some Le Creuset items at great prices. I'll be looking for my next piece.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oft used piece, August 21, 2007

This is a great little pot for oatmeal, porridge, grits, rice and other slow cooking grains. It gets used often for the above uses as well as heating sauces, gently warming cream-based soups, etc. It cleans extremely easily and is not too heavy (5# with lid).

5.0 out of 5 stars Love LeCreuset cookware, March 8, 2007
A few years ago my husband and I decided that since we really enjoy cooking, we should invest in some good cookware that would last us the rest of our lives. We bought Calphalon - huge mistake! Now less than ten years later (and we're still alive), we have had to replace the fry pans, and the pots have lost their interior finish. What to do? Buy the best!

My mother has a few pieces of LeCreuset she has used for the past 40 years, and they are still like new, so we decided the extra expense was worth the longevity. This is very heavy cookware that is designed to be used at lower temperatures, which means it takes a little longer to heat up, but the heavy cast iron pots distribute the heat all the way around and actually cook things more economically.

The enamel finish cleans beautifully. If anything is cooked on, it slides off easily after a few minutes of soaking. This is a very small pot, but perfect for sauces or small servings. I can't see that the lip on the side is the greatest for pouring - it works, but I think a traditional curved lip would work better. Nevertheless, this is quality cookware that will become a family heirloom.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fact checking, December 15, 2009

I wanted to respond to some of the claims floating around the internet regarding the authenticity of these sauce pans and sauciers. I was concerned when I ordered mine from Amazon and it came in a white box - not the familiar orange box. I was also concerned when there was no stamp on the bottom of the pan because I had read the one star review here and have seen this notion echoed elsewhere that ALL Le Creuset cookware has a numbered stamp on the bottom. So I contacted Le Creuset directly and for anyone else who might have this same concern here is your answer. This is a quote from Le Cresuset: "Be advised that all pieces are not stamped the same. There are different molds that the product is being manufactured by therefore as long as it has either the name, made in France, the number or letter it is still an authentic piece of Le Creuset cookware." The sauce pans and sauciers are stamped under the lid with all the right information. I am inclined to believe these are genuine Le Creuset items.

This was my first Le Creuset purchase and I doubt it will be my last! I love this little pot - it's perfect for warming up milk for hot cocoa or tomato sauce. It seems to be very well made - nice smooth enamel coating over the cast iron. Very easy to clean and I like how it keeps a simmer even on an electric stovetop. Hope this helps anyone thinking about buying this pot! :-)

I am trying to use cookware that is healthier. In my research I found that enamel cookware is highly recommended for being non reactive. They also recommend buying from a reputable brand. So what better brand than Le Creuset. This is a small pan, which I wanted to use for reheating small quantities of soup or stew and/or cooking small amounts. So this is a great size. Also this size is hard to find in any store. But Amazon carries it. The red is beautiful. Take into consideration that being cast iron is very heavy, even for a small pan like this. I am being inclined now to buy the enamel on stainless steel, since it is much lighter in weight.
