I have been using this mitt for 3 months, and I am very unhappy with it. Le Creuset should be embarrassed to have its name attached to it. I cook a lot, and when using the mitt with high temperature pans from the oven, I have to be careful not to hold on too long. The heat becomes uncomfortable, feeling on the verge of burning. Also, the mitt has become discolored from the heat, showing burn marks where it has gripped hot pans. I just bought a $3 mitt from Smart and Final, and it is much more functional.

Very attractive and thick, and I love the magnets. I'd stay away from laundering them, though. After I machine washed my mitt, it doesn't look as new and the color bled a little.

These are larger than your standard oven mitts sold at various kitchen stores; larger, thicker, more durable, high heat resistant, and comfortable. Perfect in every way.

I had previously purchased the Le Creuset oven mitts, and was so impressed with them that when my old pair finally bit the dust, thanks to some overzealous canine chewers, I ordered a new set. Unfortunately, the new ones are not comparable to the ones that I had purchased previously. The first thing I noticed is that the arm hole is significantly smaller. I am an average lady, and like most I don't have elephant feet for arms. Though the old mitts fit great but the newly ordered mitts were rather tight, so much so that they are difficult to use in a fast paced kitchen. Also, they don't block the heat like they used to. I used to be able to handle any item out of the oven, or off the stove with ease all the way to the dinner table, but now my hands get unacceptably hot in the turn around and two steps to the breakfast table. At this point I find them overall rather unusable, and hope to return them for a refund.

I hate to start out a review by dissing another review, but the person who said this mitt didn't provide enough protection from heat either has preternaturally sensitive hands or somehow received a bum mitt. I've been cooking a long time and I totally know the annoyance of cheapo dollar-store oven mitts that get so hot so fast you almost drop the pan. These mitts are way, way better. Heat resistance hasn't been a problem for me, even with stuff from the broiler that tends to be extra-scorching.

I wish they were available in black, or maybe a print or something that would hide "food muck" better than this ivory terry cloth that forms the majority of the mitt. However, I've found that a few spritzes of Clorox Kitchen Cleanup With Bleach (or any bleach-based cleaner, I imagine) gets rid of most stains. I was concerned the terry cloth would bleach out, but so far so good.

I've thrown these in the washer, and they did just fine. Didn't use the dryer, though, just hung 'em up and they were dry overnight.

Love, love, LOOOOOOVE that they're magnetized. It's the best! I tend to be an ambitious/frantic cook, so I'm not really good at gently pulling mitts off hooks or taking care to return them while I'm cooking. As a result, I was forever searching for mitts that I'd tossed aside as I multi-tasked... and also losing my patience with mitts that weren't easily, immediately available.

With the magnets, I can just stick the mitts to my fridge (which happens to be right by my stove). In my little condo kitchen, this is not just convenient but a great space-saver, as well.

And I always know where my mitts are, cause when I'm done using one I can just toss (!!) it across the room and it sticks to the fridge with a nice firm click. The mitts are well padded and the magnet is surrounded by fabric, so scratching/denting is not an issue. It's great! With a flip of the wrist, my oven mitt soars thru the air and lands exactly where I will need to find it later. No hooks or drawers to fuss with, when I reach for it again. Can oven mitts be any more accessible?! Magnets should be as standard as hooks, as far as I'm concerned.

One last thing that I appreciate about this oven mitt: it's cloth. I've seen other magnetized mitts that were that dreadful silicon material, ugh. I have a couple of those, and they are tops when it comes to heat resistance and also useful when handling wet or sticky or otherwise messy foods but, come on: ew. Sticking your hand into a big rubbery glove like that is kinda gross, isn't it? Like giving a mannequin an internal exam. Also, silicon doesn't tend to be as flexible as cloth, and while the material is "grippy," I've found I often don't have as sure a grasp when I use 'em -- I think cause the material's so thick I can't always gauge the pressure I'm using.

Annnnyway... I love this mitt. Have I said that enough? Hope you can see where I'm coming from. Enjoy!

This oven mitt is great. There is a magnet by the wrist which I use to very conveniently affix to my stove top vent.
