5.0 out of 5 stars This is very easy to use.
This tea kettle is stylish and very easy to use and clean. You can throw separate tea leaves in the middle or bags in it. The tea that comes with it is the best tea I have ever had.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed with whistler pot
Although this item is visually beautiful, the functionality is disappointing. The pop-out spout cover is annoying when removing it while hot. The lid is not easy to remove when hot and you have to push it down hard to close. The spout cover is easlly misplaced. Fortunately the Creuset people replaced it free. 4.0 out of 5 stars Not As Pictured, January 5, 2008

I just received this black tea kettle, and found it is the same style as the red one, which has the removeable whistle - not the lever-style spout shown in the picture. This was actually my preference, so I am not disappointed by the error.

I have only used the kettle a couple times, and have no issues so far. It has a very flat bottom which is good for my flat-top stove. The inside is entirely enameled, so I don't think it will rust, though the instructions say to keep the inside dry when not in use. Finally, the phenolic (plastic-like) handle rotates up into a locked position, and the instuction say not to rotate it back down, which should keep the rivets from loosening.

[One star deducted for fit-and-finish of handle assembly: adequate, but not visually appealing. Cannot comment on long-term performance at this time.]

4.0 out of 5 stars A good looking, working tea kettle, January 7, 2008
By
What is there to say about a tea kettle? it handles the tea making just fine. The design is overall appealing, especially since I have matching teacups from another company. Like another review said, this comes with a removable whistle over the spout, not the lever.

Cons: Besides the lack of the lever from the picture, the whistle is not very loud at first, so take that as a pro or con as you see fit.

Also, the whistle is not going to work unless you completely close the top of the lid, and properly secure the whistle to the spout. Otherwise the steam just flows out random openings and does nothing.

Only other downside is that the top of the kettle is kind of hard to remove, especially if you can only grip the little black nob due to heat.

Overall, a working, good looking, teakettle, but I bought this for about half price. I wouldn't suggest it for its normal price though. If your going to spend over fifty dollers for a kettle, make sure its one you want.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect, January 16, 2008
My Cobalt Kettle arrived today, and it is beautiful. The whistle is pleasant, and loud enough without being painfully so (my last kettle could be heard across the street from my house). I have used it 3 times already, and have had no problem with steam escaping or with it being too hot to easily handle. I am also pleased with the size of the opening at the top of the kettle, it was very easy to get into for cleaning.
One point less than perfect because the lid fits VERY tightly. In order to open it, I have to pull very hard, and once it comes loose my hand bangs into the handle (cut my knuckle). I'm hoping this gets easier. Otherwise, I love this kettle.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed with whistler pot, March 1, 2008
Although this item is visually beautiful, the functionality is disappointing. The pop-out spout cover is annoying when removing it while hot. The lid is not easy to remove when hot and you have to push it down hard to close. The spout cover is easlly misplaced. Fortunately the Creuset people replaced it free. BUT the 5th time I used it the whistler did not work ( melted plastic) and the pot boiled away the water and I am not sure if it safe to boil water in it anymore. I bought it for safety reasons and for the whistle and it is a big disappointment- considering the makers name and reputation. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

I like how this tea kettle looks and its heavy feel. I also like the genie lamp shape. The stopper whistles when water is ready. The lid construction creates a tight seal. Le Creuset quality is great. Highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Zen Tea Kettle, February 8, 2008
I am very pleased with this teapot. It is a beautiful sleek design and it is very practical and usable. The cobalt blue looks great on our black cooktop. The handle is nicely shaped and easy to use. It was shipped and delivered very promptly and was well packed. You will be very pleased with this one....comes in some other great colors!

2.0 out of 5 stars le creuset zen tea kettle is mediocre, February 8, 2008

the pretty colors available for this pot are the only highlights. It doesn't have a lever attached to the spout cover, so you have to pull out the little round piece to uncover spout which is a little warm because the steam comes out a little. Also, the boiled water doesn't stay hot or even warm for very long.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do Not Recommend, February 8, 2008
This review is from: Le Creuset Zen Tea Kettle with free 6 pack of Republic of Tea, Kiwi (Kitchen)
I would not recommend this product. I bought this when it was a gold box deal at a good price. But I typically drink tea throughout the day and with this pot you can't leave water in it or leave it on the burner too long after the water has boiled. Also I have to completely clean it out after each use because otherwise the water has a horrible taste.

1.0 out of 5 stars Literally stinks, March 2, 2008
The kettle looks beautiful, but what's the point when it stinks? Everytime I boil water in this a horrible stench emanates from the kettle. It's not the water, our water's not that bad where I am and my old kettle never put up such a smell. It might be the paint on the kettle, there might be some kind of chemical residue, whatever it is, the kettle is unusable.

I would not recommend this to anyone unless they just wanted a really pretty dust collector.
