5.0 out of 5 stars Fits my mode of cooking perfectly
I absolutely love this salt crock and the cobalt blue goes with the rest of my kitchen. I am one of those people who seldom, if ever, actually measure things, in particular salt, while I am cooking; everything is either a pinch or a dash. This crock works wonderful for my style of cooking. It is heavy enough that I do not need to worry about tipping it and it sure...

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice size, sturdy, portable, but opening too small for a hand
I recommend this with reservations.

PRO:
- Nice size. Holds about 1 cup of salt.
- Matches other Le Creuset items you may have. Elegant appearance.
- Easy to carry around given the knob on top.

CON:
- Glazed interior...some people may find the salt clumps. Many salt pigs have an unglazed interior for this reason.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice size, sturdy, portable, but opening too small for a hand, September 8, 2008

- The opening is too small to allow a medium or large hand to reach in and grab salt easily. A med- or large hand could pinch up some salt, but if you intend to use your hand to get salt, and you have medium to large hands, I would get a salt pig with a larger opening such as the Emile Henry. If you plan to always use a spoon this would not be a problem.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor design!, March 25, 2010

I was extremely disappointed in the design of this product. I love my cookwear and wanted a salt crock to go along with it. Very inconvient to use. Adult fingers do not fit into it. Salt winds up all over my counter! UGH! I went back to my old one even though it has a cover I have to remove every time I use it. Waste of money!!!!!

I absolutely love this salt crock and the cobalt blue goes with the rest of my kitchen. I am one of those people who seldom, if ever, actually measure things, in particular salt, while I am cooking; everything is either a pinch or a dash. This crock works wonderful for my style of cooking. It is heavy enough that I do not need to worry about tipping it and it sure works much better than the little dish I use to use. The workmanship and designed on this is quite good and when necessary, which is seldom, it is very easy to clean. I have other products from this company and have been happy with all of them.

I love this salt crock--very nice quality and looks great. Not a perfect moisture barrier, but pretty close. Big open mouth for easy access.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect, August 9, 2009

I got rid of another salt pot set I had because the opening was far too small for a hand to get into comfortably. I can get my hand fully into this one with no problems, although I haven't tried to grab the salt using my whole hand... just the fingers. I love the way it looks and that it holds more than other salt pots.

4.0 out of 5 stars Expensive for such a small thing but it's great!, June 2, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
It's cute and has a very nice color :) the kitchen in my house is black and white tiled so the red really stands out and matches our red kitchenaid mixer :) it's quite expensive for something so small but it's because of the brand and craftmenship. got it for my mom for mother's day and she liked it :) but she won't use it cus it's such a good brand :/ the usual "we'll use it when guests come over" hahaha but yea :) i'd recommend this if you have the money for it haha it would be a lot better if it were cheaper though -.-"

5.0 out of 5 stars Le Creuset, March 3, 2011

I bought this salt crock for garlic. Since garlic should not be in an airtight cannister I thought this would be perfect. It works great. I have it on my counter with the open part facing back. Adds color to my kitchen and my garlic is handy without the ugly cloves and stalks showing.

Great product! And it looks so nice in the kitchen. Buy it! You will love it! Just one thing - if your hands are big consider buying a little wooden spoon that can go inside the crock.

1.0 out of 5 stars Hard to use!, April 20, 2011
I agree with some of the other posters here -- the opening is simply not large enough for an adult hand to get a pinch of salt. Terribly disappointing, although it looks great on the stove!
