5.0 out of 5 stars the most wonderful ramekin ever, January 24, 2003
By
This review is from: Le Creuset Stoneware 7-3/4-Ounce 2-Piece Ramekin Set, Red (Kitchen)
These ramekins beautiful enough to plop on the table when company comes, they're quite roomy and they clean up easily.
Personally, I like the idea of ramekins in general; it's easy to portion out your food and who doesn't like their own little serving of lemon pudding or spinach souffle?
All my Le Creuset purchases have been successful; I plan to eventually replace all my cookware with this brand.

4.0 out of 5 stars Red rules, May 8, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Le Creuset Stoneware 7-3/4-Ounce 2-Piece Ramekin Set, Red (Kitchen)
I love these little red ramekins. They are so much fun, and are the perfect size for making individual desserts for a dinner party. They are nice and sturdy, too, so you can bake and serve a dessert. The only problem with this set is that it only comes with 2 ramekins, which isn't really enough. And be sure to get the red, as the other colors, while nice, don't have the same visual effect in my opinion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Functional and Nice Looking, March 23, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Le Creuset Stoneware 7-3/4-Ounce 2-Piece Ramekin Set, Red (Kitchen)
You can't go wrong with Le Creuset bakeware, and there's so many uses for these colorful little gems. I use them to hold a variety of dipping sauces and other condiments, and they add a really nice touch to the presentation when making individual desserts, like apple or peach cobbler. They also can be used to hold small-size snacks, like nuts. "Flame" and "Jade" are also great colors.

These ramekins are perfect for flan, custard, pudding, and the like. They are beautiful, yet very heavy duty. After buying one set in cherry red, I bought another set in flame 2 weeks later. These are a definate must buy!

4.0 out of 5 stars made in Thailand, February 25, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Le Creuset Stoneware 7-3/4-Ounce 2-Piece Ramekin Set, Red (Kitchen)
These ramekins are a handy size for desserts, condiments, etc. The cherry red is my favorite color, and the ramekins match well with my other Le Creuset. I originally bought 2, but found myself using them so often, I picked up a couple more.

I was surprised to see on the box that these were made in Thailand and not France. I think I remember seeing that the LC stockpots (which got mixed reviews) were also made outside France. The quality seems to be just fine. The pieces are not marked with a location. The only loss seems to be the mental imagery - I picture these being made at a sweatshop instead of by a French villager whose family has worked at LC for generations!

5.0 out of 5 stars Rame-Riffic!, January 21, 2002
This review is from: Le Creuset Stoneware 7-3/4-Ounce 2-Piece Ramekin Set, Red (Kitchen)
These little (yes, they are little!) ramekins are beautiful. I got them along with the red le Creuset fondue pot, and they make good sauce holders. They are a bit small to hold things for dipping -- one regular sized apple takes up two whole ramekins.

Still, they are versitale, go into the freezer, fridge, oven, toaster oven, dishwasher, and look nice on the table too. I am very happy with these, but if I were to get more le Creuset ramekins, I would probably buy the next bigger size.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kitchen Necessity, June 6, 2007
This review is from: Le Creuset Stoneware 7-3/4-Ounce 2-Piece Ramekin Set, Red (Kitchen)
I never knew how much I needed these ramekins until I received two as a wedding gift. Now I need more. I haven't even made any fancy desserts in them, but they have served so many other purposes. I've used them to hold tartar sauce when serving fish & chips, parmesan cheese when serving lasagne, and currently one of them is holding a batch of herb butter in the fridge. These ramekins look so beautiful at the table. I'm sure I'll come around to making some kind of quiche or dessert like creme brulee eventually, but until then, they will be used continually for other jobs.

5.0 out of 5 stars elegant ramekins, October 16, 2007
This review is from: Le Creuset Stoneware 7-3/4-Ounce 2-Piece Ramekin Set, Red (Kitchen)
i liked these so much i just ordered 2 more sets. not only do they coordinate perfectly with the other red cast iron pieces, they are super sturdy. i'm really impressed with the quality of their pottery, even if it is made outside of france.

this is a great size. i use them for serving baked beans and other sides, ice cream, salsa, lime wedges etc. i bought some more so i could use them for sides for guests and creme brulee. they're so pretty i don't even use them for prepping ingredients, i use my glass ones for that ; )

5.0 out of 5 stars great! perfect size for everything, March 9, 2007
By
This review is from: Le Creuset Stoneware 7-3/4-Ounce 2-Piece Ramekin Set, Red (Kitchen)
This set is so versatile. I bought these because I own the red Le Creuset cookware and they matched them. I thought that I would never use them and they would collect dust in the cupboard, but the longer I own them the more uses I find for them! Great for appetizer containers, for making mini casseroles (or quiches), creme brulee, serving soup, I've even baked mini bread loaves in them! The only recommendation I have is to buy two sets--I usually end up using four at a time instead of two.

These are great for a wide variety of uses and in these great colors ! Cute, practical and useful - how good can they get!

They are perfect to use for this recipe:

MOLTEN CHOCOLATE CAKES

For best results, use a dark baking chocolate with high cocoa butter content (about 30 percent)

12 teaspoons plus 5 tablespoons sugar

8 ounces bittersweet (not unsweetened) or semisweet chocolate, chopped

3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter

3 large eggs

3 large egg yolks

1 tablespoon all purpose flour

1 quart purchased vanilla bean ice cream

Generously butter eight 3/4-cup ramekin or custard dish. Sprinkle inside of each dish with 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar.

Stir chocolate and butter in heavy medium saucepan over low heat until smooth. Remove from heat.

Using electric mixer, beat eggs, egg yolks, and remaining 5 tablespoons sugar in large bowl until thick and pale yellow, about 8 minutes. Fold 1/3 of warm chocolate mixture into egg mixture, then fold in remaining chocolate. Fold in flour.

Divide batter among ramekins or dishes. (Can be made 1 day ahead. Cover with plastic; chill. Bring to room temperature before continuing.)

Preheat oven to 425F. Place ramekins/dishes on baking sheet. Bake cakes uncovered until edges are puffed and slightly cracked but center 1 inch of each moves slightly when dishes are shaken gently, about 13 minutes.

Top each cake with scoop of vanilla bean ice cream and serve immediately. Makes 8 servings.
