This canister will easily hold a 5 pound bag of flour. I purchased this item two years ago and I am very pleased with it. Doesn't chip easily - no chips yet, and lid fits nicely - rubber gasket lets it go on smoothly, but the gasket does not create an air-tight seal. The medium canister I use for a 5 pound bag of sugar. Color is very pretty. At the time of purchase I wanted a set not made in China. This was the best I could find. And I am very pleased with it. But I would recommend one also look at canisters made by Hartstone Pottery - this is a U.S. company based in the midwest, and their products are produced in the midwest.

I love this canister. It is heavy, seals tight, and keeps my coffee fresh as the day I bought it in the refrigerator. It has the most soothing shade of red blending into a darker shade and it is a big canister. I will try to upload some pictures of it as a comparision next to a can of diet coke(my favorite refreshment) and a gallon pitcher of tea so you can see just how big it is. It is so well made. You cannot go wrong getting this canister.

I already have stainless steel canisters for my all-purpose flour and sugar but I recently purchased the book: Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day: The Discovery That Revolutionizes Home Baking and wanted a separate, good looking canister that I can leave on my counter for the unbleached bread flour. This canister is a great looking addition to my kitchen, has a very nice color and holds a bit more than the 5 pound bag so I have some extra room to if I am running low on flour and want to pour a second bag in with what I have left. This is easy to clean and the silicon seal in the lid is easy to remove and replace for so you can clean the entire canister and lid.
For those interested in where this is manufactured, according to the packaging this is made in Thailand.

These are beautiful canisters. They are very large and have a small footprint. Nice in my small kitchen. They are very heavy and the red is lovely. The seal works well and the wide mouth makes them easy to dip from. Would recommend.

I love my canister. I like the canister be I buy in bulk, this container holds quite a bit.I like the color and weight.I like the price of this product...
