Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Because cast iron is unexcelled for heat distribution and retention and enamel is impervious to acids and odors, this 2-quart, enameled, cast-iron fondue pot is ideal for gently heating and then keeping warm any type of fondue, including oil, broth, cheese, and chocolate. The blue pot goes safely on any stovetop, including induction stoves, to bring a fondue to the proper temperature before the pot is placed on the charcoal-gray, cast-iron stand, where it can be kept warm by a stainless-steel burner using either alcohol or paste fuels. For easy cleanup, the pot is dishwasher-safe, as are the six color-coded, stainless-steel forks accompanying the pot. The forks fit into indentations in the pot's rim, around which runs a line of the cast iron beneath the creamy enamel coating the pot's interior--adding to the rustic pot's charm. The heavy stand provides plenty of stability for the equally heavy pot and helps conduct heat.

The pot is also useful for serving warm dips like bagna cauda in a buffet spread. Ideas like that and lots of fondue suggestions--butterscotch fondue!--are included in the recipe booklet Le Creuset sends with the pot. Stand and pot measure 8-1/2 inches high, and the stand is 8-1/4 inches in diameter. Like all Le Creuset cast-iron cookware, the pot carries a lifetime warranty against defects and is made in France using a one-of-a-kind mold that ensures each piece's uniqueness. --Fred Brack

This review is from: Le Creuset compact fondue 2 quart, blue (Kitchen)
This is a great fondue pot -- heavy Le Creuset porcelain coated cast iron heats evenly, first on the stove (or in a hot water bath for chocolate), then maintains a good table temp once you move it to its own burner. At 2 quarts, it's big enough for a table full of party munchers, as a first course, a winter snack, a desert, or a main course.

Best of all, it cleans up easily like all the heavy Le Creuset -- staying crisp-clean so it looks brand new every time you use it.

My only reservation -- and it's a small one -- is that it doesn't come with its own made-to-fit trivit or table-protecting tray. First because there is no built in protection for the tabletop from the heat of the burner, and then because there is no extended surface to protect from drips. Of course, any trivit, lazy susan, or table cloth with fix these problems.

I've made 3 kinds of cheese fondue, and hot green chili queso dip, and a simple pot of chocolate fondue for sponge cake and fruit bites and the results were all simple and wonderful.
