I grew up playing the game and after I retired began buying old cribbage boards on ebay. I wish I would have stumbled across Bemis's book earlier. A four-color book dedicated exclusively to collecting Cribbage Boards complete with pictures and histories of American manufacturers from A-Z including a price guide, it's a collector's dream. Sadly, the author, as I understand it, has passed on. But her herculean task of gathering information about the history of the nearly 400-year-old card game and the manufacture of myriad marker boards that followed will live on in the many collectors, such as myself, who will use her book to steer us in the purchase of that next Horn or Drueke Board, or perhaps the elusive Hedgehog model patented on December 22, 1863 by piano-parts manufacturer John Gill.

I've been collecting cribbage boards for a number of years. This is the first book I have obtained to help with learning about my collection. This book is fairly good for identification purposes. There is a little price guide help. This book is not too in-depth but good for starters. Worth the money.
