When you buy the expression machine - it doesn't come with this sized mat! You're reading this right, it DOES NOT INCLUDE a 12x24 MAT! Which is annoying because you need this mat to do projects larger than 12". This isn't an every day mat, this is really best used for projects over 12" (especially for the price point)

Couple of things to keep in mind -

Make sure you adjust the blade depth that's appropriate for the material you're cutting - example, don't use a 6 for vellum. This will cut into your mat, and will ruin your mat. It seems like that is the quickest cause of mat destruction.

Don't leave your material on the mat for ages - it may actually keep your material STUCK on the mat (oops)

Keep the plastic protector on the mat when you're not using it

You can flip the mat around to use it - (the arrow doesn't have to point at the machine, when your mat is not sticky, flip the arrow to face you.

Another tip i've heard - wipe the mat with some water to make it tacky again

LASTLY!!!! These mats are kinda pricy, because you NEED it to use the machine - so keep checking your local ads for their 40% (or 50% if you're lucky) coupons to get these mats.

My cricut is only 6x12, and I guess I thought that this was 6x12 also. When I recieved it, I saw the box and was like "Oh dear lord, box big enough?" thats when it hit me I ordered the wrong size. But this actually turned out better, becuase even though my cricut is definitely not this big, I cut the mats into 6X12 sizes, and now I have 8 brand new cutting mats!I should pay more attention to what it is I am looking at online, and yes to answer your question I am blonde, but this turned out so much better than just buying the size I actually needed. Score!

These mats are useful, tolerate of many hard uses and they are just down right good products through and through. They can be used many times before the sticky substance begins to lose it hold. Check your pressure guage, if the paper begins to tear, instead of thinking it is the mat.

It is exactly what you need for the cricut. The cons (which in my opinion can't be helped) are just the nature of the mat.

When you initially get it, it is very sticky. Using cheap, construction paper-like scrapbooking paper when it is brand new is a bad idea. It will leave lots of residue on the mat and you can never get it all off which really lowers the life expectancy of your mat. I always have a couple of mats, one newer for the nice paper and a slightly tattered used one for the lower quality stuff. It doesn't stick as much so your paper doesn't leave as much behind.

Over all I would recommend this product, just know what to expect. I don't really see any way to improve this.

arrived safely and in excellent shape thank you. I just purchased the expressions and need the larger mats. I already had the smaller unit and can now do more.

I love these mats. My only complaint is that they are SUPER sticky when you get them. You must "desticky" them a bit before you use them or your stuff won't come off. I've used it for vinyl and it allows me to cut out a LOT more stuff. Can't wait to use it for my scrapbooking too!

As a scrapper and cardmaker, I use my cricut frequently and of course you must have a cutting mat. My objection to the mats are initially they are so sticky that thin paper will tear removing die images however the sticky doesn't last very long then it becomes a challenge to make paper stick so it will feed and stay put while cutting. For the price I don't think they are not very cost effective, but you must have them!

I loved it, really good! Cut to perfection and is very beautiful! Not very good for fine papers, low thickness, but I met with perfection!

Good value, Great product, I use them a lot and never have any problems with them. They are highly recommended.

Showed up on time, and flat. I hate when other people roll or fold things like this, but they didn't do that! Much cheaper then buying it in the store. I just wish Cricut would make them last longer, I go through them so quick.
