This review is from: Crime Cities (CD-ROM)
The game is easy to install. The install instructions do not inform the user that the game was released around the time the OS changed from windows 2000/ME to XP. The change does make the game produce the windows has to close sorry for the inconvenience message to appear every time disc 2 is inserted to play on OS/XP and higher systems. Several hours after emailing the amazon seller, no reply yet,"MY BAD". A site competitor no connection to amazon and more expensive, provided install/play information. The game has to have the user change the compatibility mode to windows 95 to allow the game to play on OS/XP and above systems. This I did not think to do.
When the game installs a dialog box appears informing the user the game is installed. To play it remove the install disc and open the start menu, select all programs, techland is the game listing, once the icon crime cities is displayed right click on the icon, select properties. Click On the compatibility tab, click the box to change the mode, the game will only work when windows 95 is selected, click ok/apply. Right click on the icon and copy the icon, paste it onto the desk top. Next insert disc 2 and set the game video/audio parameters and click start, once the settings box is gone the game will now appear. Have fun playing, it's like Blade Runner and the Fifth Element movies combined. When you exit you can change the start video/audio settings you have to exit the game first. Lastly the game has no support the game sites are no longer in business eon-digital entertainment is up for sale, techland does not have a site for support and the game server for up to 16 play mode is not online. This was the main reason the game was hopefully going to be a big hit; it fails and sales are a disappointment for eon/techland this being one reason they are out of business with this game. No 23 cool ships to play just 3. Read this and other online reviews and judge it for yourself. I am having fun with it in-spite of the lack of ships or online support the installed site links are dead click them for yourself. Good luck in your play. And to Mr.amazon Seller, "MY BAD" BUT A RETURN EMAIL AKNOWLEDGEMENT WOULD BE NICE. THANK YOU.Your welcome for the review.
