Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

Crime Scene Investigation and Reconstruction is a comprehensive textbook for courses offered in crime scene investigation and reconstruction. It is suited for students enrolled in all levels of law enforcement training. The textbook is a necessary supplement to courses in criminal investigation, criminalistics, and a wide range of other forensic science courses. Law enforcement agencies will also find this book to be a valuable reference manual. The reader is introduced to crime scene reconstruction, which is one of the primary goals of crime scene investigation, and an important tool in criminal investigations and prosecutions. Actual cases are presented throughout the text, which illustrate how the collection of physical evidence is so valuable in helping to solve crimes and eventually bringing the offenders to justice.

The following features of this book are of exceptional interest:

  • Introduction to the crucial concepts of physical evidence, as they apply to its collection and its forensic laboratory examination and interpretation by the forensic scientist
  • Comprehensive procedures methodologies for crime scene searches, photography, sketching, and collection of all major physical evidence categories
  • Chapters on the primary types of physical evidence, including their laboratory examinations and interpretation
  • Extensive chapter on sexual assault investigations, including physical evidence collected from the crime scene, the victim, and from the suspect
  • Comprehensive chapter on homicide scene investigations, including the procedures essential to the forensic autopsy
  • Crime scene reconstruction chapter, incorporating the various types of physical evidence used in reconstructions

As a justice studies major, I didn't have to take this class, but I decided to anyway because it seemed fun.

- The book is student friendly and is a good introductory textbook. Someone like me who had no experience was still able to understand the concepts.

- Concepts are explained clearly. Diagrams and little tips help along the way.

- Some chapters was fun to read through. At times the narrative seemed very conversational.

Buy with confidence! Or if you have order this book anyway, be at ease!
